I think alot of those Elvis Cd's are selling better than other artist cd s for $5 at wallmart. There is more variety of elvis cds than other artists.

Youre totally right, I looked ten days ago at the supply they had at one of their biggest stores in California, and of all the stuff they have, for 5 bucks, Afternoon in the Garden is the only one charting inside the BB 200. So I bought a copy. And this inspite of the nonsurprising fact that Walmart has a lot of other Elvis albums available also at 5 bucks, some much newer, that dont even sell 100 copies a week. This one has been selling at least 3,500 a week, and a maximum of 6,500 a week in the 9 weeks its been inside the BB200.Id say it has sold 50,000 copies in that period.

plus the stores are awash with Elvis cds from Europe, where his early work is now public domain

and none of it will count as his official sales

one more way that Elvis is ripped off by the RIAA

which wouldn't even exist if not for Elvis' consistent million + selling singles

I paid $18 for "Afternoon In The Garden" when it first came out.

What was weird is it wasn't on the shelves very long back then.

I really don't see that much Elvis at Walmart, but $5 is excellent.

Many titles from all different artists for sale in bins.

If you go through them, you can find something that catches your eye.

"Afternoon In The Garden" is a great show for fans who never bought it.

It's cool that the CD is charting like it is.

"Viva Elvis" should've sold better than it has because it's a great CD.

In today's Billboard charts, "An Afternoon in the garden" drops one place, to 118, and gains several notches on the catalog chart, landing at number 11. Sales of 4,000 are reported, so this album is destined to continue selling like hotcakes at Walmarts, provided BMG keeps the racks loaded.

Incredibly, while the new box set didn't even make the Billboard 200 (at $100 plus it would have been a miracle if it did...), "Afternoon in the Garden" is still hanging in, with zero publicity, at positions 165 and 23 on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Catalog charts, respectively. Sales of over 3,000 are again reported as it has been the case in the last 3 months.

Well, the album is at 340,000 units sold and selling in excess of 3,000 copies per week. If it keeps it up, it needss to sell 3,000 copies each week for the next 12 months, straight, to reach 500,000. Unless of course those soundscan figures exclude sales elsewhere.

"Christmas Duets" needs 60,000 in sales to go gold.

Maybe, after christmas.

As for "Afternoon In The Garden"

Should easily make gold in the near future.

It will be interesting to see what gets awarded.

The numbers will certainly be higher as time flies.
