Debra Paget loved Elvis

Just re-reading the beginning of "Child Bride" on the net. Never read it very carefully before. I was surprised to see that the author says that Debra Paget said that she waa in love with Elvis when she made Love Me Tender with him, but her parents wouldn't have any of it, so she broke it off. She also said that he had proposed to her.

And everyone says that Elvis described Priscilla as "a young Debra Paget"

What a shame nothing came of it. Maybe he would have married her instead of Priscilla.

Child Bride? Really, that's your source?

DP was involved with multi-millionaire Howard Hughes at the time, as anyone knows, and wanted nothing long-term with the flash-in-the-pan hillbilly she saw as Elvis Presley.

Elvis said he fell in love with her, but it was mere infatuation; he'd forgotten about her by the time the next one came along.

I don't know about her involvement with Howard Hughes. I just know that she supposedly said that she had been in love with Elvis.

But you are right about "Child Bride". It may be entertaining, and everyone knows I hate Priscilla, and it really knocks her, in some ways. But it reads mostly as a work of fiction, just like the other books.

For instance, it states that Priscilla's aquaintances described her as almost "supernaturally beautiful" and described Priscilla as having "unearthly beauty". This was BEFORE she met Elvis, which means she was under 14. All of us have seen pictures of her when she first met Elvis. She was a really cute 14 year old, but I doubt that anyone would have told the author that she was "supernaturally beautiful" or possessed "unearthly beauty" before the age of 14.

Much as I hate Priscilla, for the way she treated Elvis, even I must admit, that she was very beautiful as an adult, especially with the black hair, the way Elvis had her fixed up, but not before age 14. Before that, she was a cute but rather plain child with mousy brown hair. That is, cute, but not glamorous.

IMO....All I know, Lee, is that Debra Paget was beautiful, and I do think ELVIS was very smitten with her. I do think he compared many that came along after to that gorgeous lady. Who wouldn't be in LOVE with ELVIS working that close to him? I know, I know, I am way biased.:)

Debra Paget was and she still is extraordinrily beautifull. Priscilla Presley was vwey beatifull too but she is more independent and was not loyal to Elvis.
Debra was dominated by her mother and she, in different circunstances could habe been as famous as Brigitte Bardot or any of the best renowed Hollywood stars.

What a shame that the beauty and talent of Debra Paget was wasted in the stupid convent.

You seem to be a very bitter person, and one who is prone to many inaccuracies.

Firstly, turning to God by becoming a nun isn't stupid.

Secondly, it wasn't Debra Paget who went into a convent, it was Delores Hart.

It is obvious YOU are the stupid one.

Yeah, I read about that somewhere in one of the many Elvis Biographies. I believe that Elvis also mentioned she looked so much like a younger version of his mum too.

But then he also said the same thing to Priscilla right? He has this thing for women who have deep set eyes. Too bad, he never got a chance to meet me. As so do I.*chuckles*

In all seriousness it's hard to know what is truth and what's not. Because all we have to go by are books, and more books. So it's up to the individual person and whether they take it as truth or choose not to. It's a choice we all have to make with what little evidence, we have to go on.

I personally {and this is purely my opinion} But I've always liked Linda Thompson as a partner for Elvis. I don't know why I do, I just do. She just strikes me as this wonderful person, who has great character within her. Bubbly personality and quite pretty. But this is once again only my opinion though.

Side note - I've read so many books, that my brain feels like a computer. And I could go on and on and on. As you can probably tell, I love to talk a lot.*weeee*

psychologically all of us are attracted to others BUT we really don't know why - it's our subconscious - not anything we can actually put FINGER on

How many times do you see couples together - one a beauty and one not? In each of their eyes they see something beautiful that they want in the other though observers don't see it!!

From what I've read Elvis was actually insecure and was looking for something or someone that could fill his needs. I don't think he ever found it...

And the same is true today for everybody all over the world, nobody knows what makes them tick??(as individually a person most times doesn't even know)

I've read how many facts about Elvis Presley and his life but Ikm so dumb. I didn't know how Priscilla treated Elvis Presley. I think he should've married Ann Margret OR Debra Paget.
HOW DID PRISCILLA TREAT ELVIS PRESLEY?

Just how did Priscilla treat Elvis? Why are there so many Priscilla haters? It's interesting how Elvis gets a free pass for his indiscretions (putting it nicely), while Priscilla is continuously trashed.

By the way, I am a fan of Elvis regardless of what others may think or say, as they believe that truth has no place in the conversation when it comes to discussing his marriage to Priscilla. The bottom line as far as I'm concerned, is that it's not my place to judge Elvis or Priscilla. They handled their personal life together in a way that they felt was best and both agreed to remain friends and love each other.

I think the best thing is simply to leave it alone and respect both Elvis' and Priscilla's decisions regarding their personal business?! All those who hate Priscilla are projecting the opposite of how Elvis felt about Priscilla--He loved her! Get over it!
