I heard somewhere that Sony will present new sales data to the RIAA so that Elvis will be certified in long un-updated albums, but then again whatever Sony says either takes a few years to happen or never does. If it's going to happen, it would be in January next year for the 75th anniversary celebrations.

Let's see

On August 15, there'll be a presentation of worldwide awards presentes to Elvis by SONY. Could it be that maybe, just maybe, they will announce RIAA album awards, other than the one they just got for E1, at 5Xplatinum, as well?

it does usually occur during Elvis weeks that they update his records

and with the Cirque show coming up, there's lots of Elvis attention, so it's a good year for a big push

The record sales certified by the RIAA in regards to Presley are only a small fraction of the totality of his real tabulations of album sales. Case in point: The 200 million albums sold worldwide the four months after his death
(80 million) in the United States alone are virtually unaccounted for in tabulation by the RIAA. Moreover there over 85 albums released in the United States that have not been certified by the RIAA. Including but not limited to, Movie Soundtracks albums such as Fun in Acapulco, It happened at the world's fair, Harum Scarum, Paradise Hawaiian Style, and Speedway. Some of these movie soundtracks were billboard top ten hit albums. Also, non soundtrack albums like Pot Luck and Elvis for Everyone with later albums such as Love Letters by Elvis, Promised Land and Elvis Today. All these and many more albums issued by RCA sold Millions in all formats. To reiterate, all these albums have not been properly certified nor accounted for in sales by Recording Industry of America. In order for the RIAA to receive formal legitimacy and respect from the public they must recognize the issues mentioned above and thus award and account these lost sales in calculation and tabulations. Finally, once these errors are corrected and all record sales accounted for, then this issue will never be disputed again thus forever establishing Elvis Presley as the greatest recording act of all time in the history of popular music in the United States, without question and just due merit.
