Elton John used an AIDS charity concert in Kiev on Saturday to make an emotional appeal to Ukraine to stop what he called persecution of gays.

Judged: 1 1 1 Even without Soviet communism, the Ukraine has always been a basket-case country where intolerance and discrimination were common, including against some of their own (e.g. Doukhobors). |

Judged: 2 1 1 If teh Germans had been smart, and had Hitler not been such a racist and anti-Semite, he could have used teh Ukrainian people in his war against the Soviet Union. When the Germans first invaded the Soviet Union, they were looked upon as liberators from the monstrous Josef Stalin, who killed FAR MORE people than Hitler ever did. If Hitler HAD used the Ukrainians in his war on teh Soviet Union, other Soviet republics may have revolted in 1941, rather than 1991, and the whole bloody mess could have been destroyed long ago. At least the Soviet Union isnlong dead now and will never rise again. And the Russia seems to be in it's own slow-motion death spiral with it's constantly-decreasing population since teh late 80's. The BIGGEST mistake that Yeltsin ever made, was appointing Putin as his prime minister. He's just a "Stalin-lite" and may wind up leading Russia even longer than the 29 years that Stalin lead teh Soviet Union. Pity the poor Russian people....:( |

Putin who by Russian political standards is rather young is also very much the old school KGB mind set. The political corruption there regardless of who runs what is staggering . Some say worse than the Miami Cuban politicians but that is hard to fathom lol. |

Judged: 1 1 1 They've been trained to intolerance and subservience (and kissing cartoons) for a millennium by ... http://i39.tinypic.com/2i91ox3.jpg whose current incarnation, in case anyone didn't know, has a complete monopoly of the tobacco import trade for the entire Russian Federation ... and a personal fortune of a little over 4 b-b-billion dollars (US). When none of the above is sufficient, there is still vodka, which is controlled by a few of the other chekisty. As with his predecessor, Alexy, gay people are "not good for a strong State"; i.e. convenient scapegoats used to redirect the frustrations of the proletariat. Orthodoxy is based upon byzantine politics wherein "saint" Constantine co-opted the church to enhance State control. The poor, poor Rus and Slavs haven't known the true air of freedom for a thousand years. The tendency to deny to others the freedom they themselves can't even visualize is merely symptomatic. The psalmist wrote "Sing to the Lord a NEW song" and all orthodoxy teaches and allows is the same old Imperial Court ceremony done over and over and over and over for centuries, and performed like some magical ritual where every motion is rigidly prescribed for efficacy. The gospel writer instructs "When you pray, do not go on with many words as the heathen do, for your Father knows all that you need even before you ask. Instead, when you pray do it like this, "Daddy in heaven ...." But orthodoxy teaches ceremonies that go on for HOURS and HOURS with grand display and Imperial court regalia. The gospel writer gives us, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light", but orthodoxy piles on rules and observances enough to break a camel's back. The Romans did it, and still do, too. Talk about "pyamid power" ! Even the patriach's kobluk looks like the pharoah's headdress! The protestants do it, too, in their own ways. What a f'd up system. |

Judged: 1 1 1 After the destruction of the Soviet Union (someting I certainly never expected to see in my lifetime), I was very hopeful that Russia WOULD become a truly democratic and capitalist republic. But I lost all hope of that long ago after Putin became Prime Minister. It just seems that Russia is condemned by history and cannot escape it's past.:( I had hoped that Russia and the U.S. would become best friends and good trading partners, but Putin is obviously determined to prevent that from ever occurring on his watch. With the disdain he showed The Obamaniac at their last meeting, he could've been easily been mistaken for a Republican ! I lost all hope for Russia becomeing a "normal" country long ago, and I see no possibility of that happening in the foreseeable future. Pity the poor Russian people.:( Their ONE SOLE HOPE I believe is in their demogaphics. Russia's population has beem shrinking for more than 2 decades. Maybe, if they'er smart, the will allow it to shrink to zero. Then maybe they can start all over again. Pity the poor Russian people.:( |

If they EVER want to see a turn around in their existence, they must give up and forever renounce idolatry ... and vodka. Then, in Yeshua's name, learn to actually LOVE each other. The US would do well to hear that, too. |

My grandparents moved heaven and earth to get out of that Shiite hole of Kiev in 1906, thank the GODDESS! I actually worked with a smart Ukranian who was savy enough to leave Kiev about 20 years ago. I asked him what the area around my grandparents' home was like and if I should ever visit. His response..."you would not like it! It is ugly and grim. Stay away, for you would be disappointed." He says he NEVER wants to return. That's all I need to know. |

Yeh beating up anybody is wrong, but some old queen is not gonna help people be tolerant. If they'd watched the Tv programes about him with his hissy fitting, it was even called tantrums and tiaras, they'd want to beat him up! Having said that I guess his fans now won't beat gays up, like they would've anyhow, not. He'd better just stick to the music.

Wel I think Ukraine is a very religious country and I think that a lot of people think that these parades is a promotion or advertisement I of certain kind of activities. I think that parades are not an answer, education is ,.... will lead to a better understanding
