Elton John used an AIDS charity concert in Kiev on Saturday to make an emotional appeal to Ukraine to stop what he called persecution of gays.

As he performed he was carried on FOUR channels in the Odessa Oblast. What a waste of air time. I am ashamed for the Ukrainian TV system. Let Sir Poofer go back to England where they love him. Ukraine does not need high profile perverts coming here and telling uthem how to live.

The Ukraine is simply doing what it did during World War II after the Nazis invaded. Back then, they were all gung-ho for the Nazis' anti-jewish and anti-gay dogmas until they realized the Nazis viewed them the same way.

Even without Soviet communism, the Ukraine has always been a basket-case country where intolerance and discrimination were common, including against some of their own (e.g. Doukhobors).

If teh Germans had been smart, and had Hitler not been such a racist and anti-Semite, he could have used teh Ukrainian people in his war against the Soviet Union. If Hitler HAD used the Ukrainians in his war on teh Soviet Union, other Soviet republics may have revolted in 1941, rather than 1991, and the whole bloody mess could have been destroyed long ago.

At least the Soviet Union isnlong dead now and will never rise again. And the Russia seems to be in it's own slow-motion death spiral with it's constantly-decreasing population since teh late 80's.

The BIGGEST mistake that Yeltsin ever made, was appointing Putin as his prime minister. He's just a "Stalin-lite" and may wind up leading Russia even longer than the 29 years that Stalin lead teh Soviet Union. Pity the poor Russian people....:(

I had hoped that Russia and the U.S. would become best friends and good trading partners, but Putin is obviously determined to prevent that from ever occurring on his watch.

Wel I think Ukraine is a very religious country and I think that a lot of people think that these parades is a promotion or advertisement I of certain kind of activities. I think that parades are not an answer, education is ,.... will lead to a better understanding
