JC Penney WANTS younger customers, and they're playing the gay game thinking it will draw them in. JC Penney has been struggling on the brink for several years now. It is a cheap store with cheap products that have had higher prices until their recent price drop. That drop and hiring Ellen are both acts of desperation, probably last gasps of life. I'm actually rather pleased they've hired a gay spokesperson. After their last breath it will appear as if it happened because of that hiring.

Brilliant marketing by J C Penney! They could never have afforded this amount of advertising. Penney selects a very popular gay talk show host with millions of fans that watch and love her every week. A hate group raises a stink and creates a huge buzz just at the time Penney is trying to change their image from stogie to a bit more cutting edge.

This doesn't seem to have a down side for J C Penney.

This hate group will have little effect since most people will think these are the same wing nuts who are attempting to boycott Starbucks, Macy's and others who don't fit into their "perfect little world". With a big roll of the eyes most people will think of them as another group of religious extremists on par with the Westboro Church.
