Yeah, that time she gave the concert in Central Park, and it rained on that bitch. I may not know much about a lot of things, but I do know that when black hair gets wet... It draws-up!!! The photos of that concert showed Ross with a short NAPPY afro, and connected to it was the hair of some Asian, who through the sell of her hair ate rice for a week.

REMEMBER,,Miss Ross in THE WIZ?
That was shot way back, when Michael was Black and there was a crisis in the Twainese/Vietnamese hair market. "Kinkalon" hadn't been invented yet and she actually wore her own nappy, ratty hair!
I had a super senior moment and forgot about that....
OH YEAH, Its coming back to me now...>>>>>and remember the Lady Sings the Blues Rehab scene????? Bug Eyed and dribling...(Or was that the DUI video) I think she wore her hair then as well....
Ewww,,theword picture has given me chills~
She has kept the Asians fed ever since!

Last night on "Inside The Actor's Studio", Diana said that the worse part about being in “The Wiz” is she had to cut her hair so short and it took such a long time to grow back.
Who does she think she’s fooling?

Diane is one of those black women who would hook-up with a white man just to assure herself that her kids would have a certain grade of hair, and all except Gordys daughter she suceeded. Vanity has no limits!!!!!!!

If you had been watching close, you would have heard Ms. Ross laugh. She made a joke. I'm sure Ms. Ross know that her real fans knows that she has weave in her hair. Over half of white and black women either has extensions or weave in theirs hair. Ms.Ross just wear her very well. She is not trying to fool anyone, if anyone took her to be serious on "Inside The Actor's Studio", when she made that joke, is a fool, withiut her help.

ok here goes...
i think diana might have had short hair for some time because, if you recall, the photo on the album DIANA in 1980 shows diana with relatively short hair.....and the photographer has been quoted as saying that diana came back for some final shoots for that album cover and she was photographed in a natural way...the shirt and jeans she had on and her natural hair.

Neil and Knowsbetter--

It takes a very "special" person to invest so much time, energy, and malice on someone that one obviously doesn't like. I am utterly fascinated by individuals who have such unadulterated hatred for Diana Ross and invest the time out of their day, their lives (or lack thereof), and extract ideas from their bitter minds to make mean-spirited comments about Diana Ross and the many fans who appreciate what she has given them each personally and what she has provided the world. Don't sweat it. Those people have an existence so barren that you need not respond to any scathing attack they make online. Their fitting punishment is the prison of their own flesh and bones and the hollow places they call a heart.

If you don't like a celebrity, why relentlessly offer negative commentary? Wouldn't that time be better spent on speaking about celebrities (or topics) that one appreciates? I love debate and discussion, and I don't need/expect/want others to agree with me on every point, but I am amazed at the posts from people whose sole function each day is to spew venom into cyberspace like it's a favorite pastime. Thought about gardening?

We live in a society that upholds youth--especially in women. Women are not given the leeway to grow old with grace. The threads about Diana Ross' teeth, her hair, and the changing quality of her voice are unsettling. Many have suggested that Diana should "throw in the towel" because she doesn't sound like she did in her vocal prime nor does she look the same. Diana will be 63 in one month. She has obviously taken good care of herself and has gracefully surrendered the things of youth. The fact that people in our society--even women who are the biggest victims of this sexist bias--want women to retreat in a cave when they have passed menopause, never to be seen again speaks volumes to how women continue to be objectified. Male celebrities can act, sing, perform well into their seventies. Diana and a precious few other legends (Patti, Aretha, Dionne, Gladys) can boast of careers that span more than 2 decades. Most female superstars are abandoned after reaching the age of 40 (Janet Jackson is a case in point).

Diana is more than hair (weave or otherwise: Who the hell cares?!), a silky soprano voice (her voice is filled with age, has thickened, and does not have the range of 10-20 years ago, but she still interprets a song with her distinctive vocal style, punctuated by her dramatic abilities), or teeth (My God, why won't people find something better to do with their time!?). Those of us who admire her--Thank God--can appreciate her gifts beyond what she offers as a physical manequin of ageless feminine beauty. I appreciate her timeless and ageless beauty, but I am so happy that I have the depth of character to see beyond that and can admire her strength of spirit, her determination, and her underrated talents, compassion, and inspirational gifts. Someone posting to this site has argued repeatedly and stridently that Diana's fans (especially gay ones) are only interested in her glitz and glam. I offered no response to that ridiculous rant because someone who thinks so little of others is only revealing the narrow range of his own sad vision and cannot be persuaded by someone who thinks and sees the world in a higher plane.

There are three kinds of people in this world. Great people talk about ideas (dreams, love, unity, strength). Average people talk about things (hair, teeth, outfits). Below average people talk about other people.

I know which kind of person I am. I am at peace with that. I hope that I will still dance when others think I have no rhythm left. Smile when my teeth are falling apart, and sing when my voice cracks and I can't hit the range of my youth. I hope this because I will always believe that life is a song worth singing and the gift of old age is a blessing, not a curse.

have you ever met Diane? do you think you know her as well as her children? her brother? well if you anwsered "NO" to these questions, then what you are doing when you speak of her life is SPECULATING,which is similar to FORCASTING "you know, like when the weatherman says "SUNSHINE" and it "RAINS?" Yes, I have met Diane's brother, he use to visit me when I lived in Venice CA. After knowing him, it sounds like your describing another person when you rant on about her.Ross has never uttered a word publicly that wasn't a tired euphemism. So where did you gain all of this knowledge from this intensly private person? her music? GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

And what exactly do you think you know about her Rita? Just because you claim to have hung out with her brother doesnt mean squat! Chico was out of the loop - he was only eight or nine years in 1964 when she first became famous. After then, for all intents and purposes, Berry Gordy/Motown pretty much owned her so I dont think she had the time to tell Chico all the sordid details of her existance. And why should anyone believe that he would tell you her biz in the first place? Psht!

Have you met him?(Chico) I met him in the late seventies.Chico wasn't Diane,But do you think that brothers, and sisters share some characteristics? as children who do younger siblings imitate? No Chico wouldn't tell her business, but what I experienced from him was Diane's "essence," traits that intrigued and annoyed me.(like looking in my closets before he got comfortable)which was part of his "Wiry" nature. If you ever met my brother or sister I am sure that you would find resemblance, and vise/versa

Lies! Diana can grow her hair long, and she has a 3c texture, more like a mulatta texture. She is mixed with Cherokee. Why do the haters somehow try to say Ross is denying her blackness? Haters are always also trying to somehow prove she is from Olduvai Gorge or something - why do you put her down by making fun of African hair? Are you secretly ashamed of your own ratty, nappy hair? I think what people are really bothered by is that Ross does not relax her hair! She has never sported a nerdy OPRAH type of 'do, like so many black women with truly "too nappy to be kinky, too kinky to be nappy" hair like to do. Ross flaunts her God-given curls. Yes, she usually adds a fall or weave to add fullness, but her hair is LONG and 3C level CURLY, not brillo pad nappy - not that there's anything wrong with that.

You must be describing yourself, because you are full of shit, Rita. First of all, Ross did not "hook up" with white men; she MARRIED Bob and later Arne. And her children are not dolls to her; they are not a reprieve from her "blackness", nor an attainment of "whiteness". Rather, Ross recognizes that they are biracial or more accurately, bicultural. She has worked to teach them of ALL their cultures. For example, in People magazine, it showed Diana with Tracy riding camels in Israel. Tracee has said that she considers herself to be a black woman who is also half-Jewish. So Ross does not see her mixed chirren as some vanity thing. Remember how she read from Khalil Gibran at the Central Park Concert?
