Although Dharmendra has been a consistent performer all through his hey-deys in terms of boxoffice success, but 1973 proved to be the most remarkable and most successful year of his illustrious cinematic career.. Though it was in 1975 that his biggest ever hit released (Sholay), 1973 looks to be the most outstanding when looking at the run of hits delivered.. Dharmendra had 6 film releases in which 2 were Golden Jubilees and 4 were Silver Jubilee hits. They are as follows:

Jugnu: Super hit and was the 2nd highest grossing film of 1973 after Bobby..It was a Golden Jubilee Hit and sees Dharmendra in one of his most fascinating and adorable performances as a Kind-hearted Crook who lives by the sword and dines with utmost goodwill due to his past hunted by unfavorable circumstances..

Yadoon Ki Baarat: Super Hit and featured Dharmendra as a Unique Kind of “Angry Young Man” with a superb physical performance that earned him a Filmfare Nomination for Best Actor In 1974. It was a Golden Jubilee Hit and also brought both Vijay Arora and Zeenat Aman to limelight.

Kahani Kismet Ki: It featured Dharmendra as a Producer and as an actor and it was one of such films that gave Rekha notice. It was a Silver Jubilee Hit and launched the successful association of Dharmendra with Arun Hingorani (who also gave a special cameo in the film).
Loafer: Who says Mumtaz was only suited to Rajesh Khanna. After watching this film, it became evident that Dharmendra was one of the actors that indeed struck gold with mumtaaz. What a fascinating Chemistry they both shared and the film became a runaway hit of 1973 becoming a Silver Jubilee in the long run..

Kab Kyon aur Kahan: This was another release of Dharmendra that scored beautifully at the boxoffice in 1973 become his 5th Clean hit for the year and his 3rd silver jubilee hit. He was really in top form for this year and needless to say, he was also the Boxoffice king at the time maintaining the number one spot amongst his contemporaries. It featured Babita as his co-star and both were loveable to watch.

Keemat: This was another film that scored for Dharmendra in the year 1973, although it was a Semi-hit at the boxoffice and duely earned silver jubilee status as it did great business in dehli, pune, upper east punjabi, etc. It once again featured Rekha as his co-star..

Other releases of Dharmendra for this year was the Critically acclaimed Blackmail that featured Shathrughan Sinha and Rakhee. The film although did not click as expected at the boxoffice, but it has long developed Cult-status and is regarded as one of the great hindi film classics of the 70s..

So like I have said earlier, Dharmendra had indeed scored in other years proving himself timeswithout number as a Boxoffice Supremo, the success ratio witnessed in 1973 proved to be a CLASS APART IMO…Special mention to other great years like 1975 (Sholay, Pratigyaa), 1977 (Dharamveer, Chacha Bhatijah) and 1987 (Hukumat, Aag Hi Aag, Loha)

1973 is a very very good year of indian movie industries first and last angry young man amitabh's zanzeer release, rajesh khanna's dag release, best romantic movie bobby release, and dharmendra has a best year of his career so 1973 is the only year you can not consider this year is for one actor like 1970 is for rajesh khanna 1982 for amitabh "1973 is the very very good year of indian cinema

Thanks and welcome, In 1973 maximum number of hits were given by Dharmendra.Amitabh was a starter,Kaka, though he was still super star, was going down hill, only Dharmendra was standing firm with so many hits,so he was better placed in 1973 than anybody else.

Fantastic reply...and let us also crave his indulgence that Dharmendra also delivered great hits in 1970 including Jeevan Mrityu, Sharafat and Tum Haseen Mein Jawan...Then we also had the biggest hit of the year, Johny Mera Naam Featuring Dev-anand and the newest female sensation, Hema Malini, who would go on and struck Gold Dharamji with 4 CLEAN HITS(Producing one of the greatest ever Jodis in Hindi-cinema History) capping up a memorable year for hindicinema....
