Yes we know Hannah. Ethanol is just not the answer though.

Ethanol really doesn't do it. People think that because its made from plants it is a clean and green energy source. I would much prefer natural gas as the future of automobiles. Yes, lots of work needs to be done, but this is a relatively clean energy source and the US has a huge supply of it that can be collected rather inexpensively.

She's a progressive ... It's not the results that count ... the good intentions is all that matters to them.

The single greatest influence on rainforest destruction is global food prices. Both organic food and ethanol fuel have increased global food prices. Just the facts.

The car sure does look pretty, but Daryl should look into making fuel from algae, the next new thing...

It's so much more pleasant to see Daryl Hannah and that nice car on Community Television, than yet another Robert Norse and Becky Johnson production about how the SCPD stole Anna and Lito's housing or about how great the Volcano Nachos at Taco Bell are.

Ethanol is only a good solution if you hate people, since it drives up food prices.

not only drives up food prices but E15 voids most car warranties and would likely destroy many marine engines and some types of fuel tanks

How come Ms. Hannah is not aware of the economic catastrophe she and her like minded ethanol Jell-O brained cohorts caused to most of the corn based economies in the Western Hemisphere when they and their corrupt legislatures diverted public funds to corn subsidies for mandated ethanol production. Corn based ethanol is inefficient energy use due to the loss of net energy to convert the plant carbon based sugars to ethanol! Mandated ethanol subsidies have decimated those corn based economies which drove up the cost of corn!

Hollyweird Liberals are ignorant and they surley love to maintain their ignorance as their ignorance just seems so squishy-feely-good when they promote their agenda!

I'd love to build a home completely energy efficient to where I could completely leave the electrical and utility grids but I don't make millions of dollars in Capitalist Hollyweird!

I see the censors have been working the boards...

Oh, what a load hubba & harbor. Ethanol is great fuel, but it's not the only biofuel you can make.

It's a blatant lie that this is why the Third World gets screwed over - in fact, when we dump our corn on them at low prices, it drives their farmers out of business as everyone buys the cheap imports - and then, the agricorps jack up the prices and make bank.

We feed enough corn to hogs and chickens and cows in the U.S. to feed 800 million people a year (about 50% of the production). We have plenty of excess to feed into biofuel production.

The reason the fossil fuel cartel hates biofuels is because they compete with their products. I mean, a plug-in ethanol hybrid? Charge the battery with solar, and have a bankup tank of ethanol, and you can eliminate the fossil fuels from the transportion sector.

This is why the fossil fuel lobby has hired fake "enviro" groups like [deleted] to attack biofuel production, environmental groups, etc. That's what [deleted] does for a living - shills for Chevron. And if you find their activism a "turnoff" - well, it's deliberate. That's what they want.

There, that better?

Hey - who supplies the City and County Government with fossil fuel these days?

"Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District Awards Long-Term Natural Gas Fuel Supply Contract"

"SEAL BEACH, Calif.(2007)-- Clean Energy (Nasdaq:CLNE) has entered a five-year agreement to supply the Metropolitan Transit District in Santa Cruz, California Santa Cruz is the county seat and largest city of Santa Cruz County, California, United States."

"As of the 2000 U.S. Census, Santa Cruz had a total population of 54,593. The Santa Cruz Metro, Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District, SCMTD provides bus service throughout Santa Cruz County, California. Metro also operates extensive bus service between Santa Cruz (city) and San Jose, thanks to a partnership with the Santa Clara Valley - with liquefied natural gas."

They've never shown any interest in running biofuels in the buses - well, the UCSC transport people claimed they were going to try it, but all the bought were the "biodiesel" stickers they slapped on the buses.

So, what's cleaner - natural gas or ethanol?

If you make the ethanol without relying heavily on fossil fuels, the ethanol is cleaner. If you use coal to distill the ethanol, natural gas is cleaner.

So, what you really want here is to set up farms & biofuel rigs that are integrated with very large solar arrays - then, you are no longer dependent on fossil fuel imports - and California farmers are more likely to spend money in Santa Cruz than are Saudi oil princes.

Who is CLNE?

Hey! We're buying natural gas for our buses from that cantankerous old wind booster, Boone Pickens! That's the major direct shareholder in CLNE.

Poor guy needs a break after this rough economic system - so remember, every time you ride the bus, you're giving him a quarter. Bless you for helping that poor man in his time of need!

not just a possibility there's cars already running on the stuff here in this country, a final answer to this problem? Hydrogenfuel cells anyone?
