I liked Devito till he trashed our President. Why is it that the majority of Hollywood is Ultra Liberal Democrat? THEY are ruining our country!
Now I hate his guts and will not see his movies.

I have always liked Danny Devito but he did make a total idiot of himself yesterday. Another drunk actor slamming the president. I wonder if Danny Devito thinks he was clever, funny, edgy or what. You were a drunk mouthing off and insulting everyone watching the show and sitting on stage with you who might like the president and does not agree with you. We did not ask for your opinion nor did we want it. It was a cheap shot, he took it and maybe a lot of people who do like or respect the president will not go and see your new movie, now you have also hurt the people who were in the movie with you. They were not out drinking all night and maybe they do not appreciate your behavior either!!

In this country we ALL have the right of Free Speach! There for he can say what he wants and when he wants! That is what are MEN AND WOMEN are fighting for! Perhaps you should all practice what you preach! Perhaps everyone reading this page does not want nor agree with your opinions nor did we all ask for them, However you gave them. Danny DeVito is a FREE AMERICAN, OVER 21 who can behave how ever he pleases. No one is perfect and everyone deserves a second chance!

I will never watch any movie Danny Devito or any movie a hollywood "star" is in as long as they mouth they ulta liberal views on my TV or when I pay good money out of my pocket to watch a movie. I could care less if he likes the President or not, but having class is not what he has. O, and the desecration of Lincoln's bedroom in the White House was horrible. So sad.

Cheryl, think about it. Yes, we have the right to speak freely; we do NOT have the right to say whatever we want at any time. We don't have the right to, for example, slander others (say things about them that are untrue or that harm the other's reputation). You've probably heard of celebrities brining law suits against publications like National Enquirer. The basis of their law suits is libel, or printing untrue stories. In a similar way, we are not allowed to yell FIRE in a crowded theater, because that would put people's lives at risk as they rush for the exit. So you must understand that we are not totally free to act in any irresponsible way we choose.
Now, as far as Devito is concerned, sure, he has the right to act like a buffoon - and the rest of us have the right to comment on his buffoonish behavior. So, Cheryl, what is your point?

You make a good point! He however did nothing to harm the President. He expressed his opinions as others on this page are doing. I don't believe that anyone should break the laws of our government. I also believe that if someone went out the night before and had a good time with friends and then was on a show with a hangover is not a reason to riducule a person, weather he is in Hollywood or just a regular person he is over 21 and allowed to drink. He made his bed and now has to lie in it. He knows that he was wrong and is apologizing for that. To say that you are not going to go and see his films because he screwed up, is a bit childish, you are not hurting him, I am sure that their are plenty of people out there that agree with him and that will continue to see his films. I am not condoning what he done, I am just stating that he can and had every right to say what he wants about whom he wants. I can not go in depth, because I work during the day and did not have the opportunity to see him on the show. So my point was that EVERYONE has the right to speak their mind weather others like it or not and you should not punish others because you do not like the view or personality of one person.

I agree with much of what you've said. And I would never support those who resort to insult and ridicule on a personal level, when they really just oppose another's viewpoint. But you see this is just what Devito did. He was mean spirited in ridiculing the presient in a very personal way - he wasn't speaking like an adult in criticizing the president's policies. Devito's actions just made him look like an immature child who doesn't have the ability to use facts or ideas to express his opinion. This kind of behavior is embarrassing to watch and it's certainly not funny. But in addition to the bad behavior on the show, Devito is telling us all about his disrespect for our White House and the Lincoln bedroom in particular. Again, he may certainly feel that way and he has the right to tell America about it - I'm glad he did, as a matter of fact, because now we all know more about him. In any case, the movie looked horrible from the get-go, so I'm not surprised to see it flopping all on its own. But, if I were inclined to see it, and then heard about Devito's performance, I would certainly change my mind BECAUSE I wouldn't want to line the pockets of someone who behaves this way.
BTW, I didn't see it either, just the clips afterward. Also BTW, I do like the guy's acting - when he's in a decent production. In the old days he was fab as Louis DePalma!

Danny Devito made a fool of himself. That is certainly his right. But when he ridicules and derides the President of the country, then he insults all of us Americans. I was considering taking the family to see Deck the Halls, but not anymore.
By the way, Pres. Bush graduate from Yale and Harvard. Where did Danny get his degree??

Give him a break! He was out having a good time and it got out of hand. How many of us have been out partying all night then remembered we had to go to work in a few hours? That's what happened to him. It just so happened that his job was in front of a camera. It's cool to see the stuffed shirts get rattled once in a while when things don't go as scripted. We're all human and errors in judgement are a big part of that. The rest of us just don't have to face the harsh media criticism when we screw up once in a while.

We have the right to ridicule the president here in the US. In hollywood they spoof on presidents all the time. The show was called the VIEW friends. It's sort of a forum for viewpoints, and that was his. I also agree with him. Bush to me is nice man, who is way over his head.

Oh you guys - what do you mean, give him a break? Look - he's an actor, He seeks publicity. Not only that, but he's a VETERAN actor, not a kid. It's his PROFESSION to be in front of a camera. He was booked on the View apparently to promote his movie, so if you think he's being victimized by being caught on camera, please think again.
RE being drunk at work - I don't where you work, Tom, but I'm pretty sure your boss wouldn't stand for it. Right? It's just part of growing up and taking responsibility for what you do.
And yes, Devito has the right to speak his mind (although doing it in such a mean and childish way just makes him look, well, mean and childish). No one's hauling him off to jail and taking away any of his rights. Again, he's an actor, and in the spotlight, so his words and actions are subject to public scrutiny. Please understand that although he has a right to speak, the rest of us don't have an obligation to pat him on the head and say "good job." Actors have no fewer - and no more - rights than the rest of us.

I suppose no one on here has ever had a late night out and drank too much? Give the guy a break!

BTW I like Danny, but Deck the Halls was a pretty boring movie, hardly any laughs at all. I'll stick with the Griswalds!

You've got to be kidding, right? I certainly didn't feel insulted. In fact I was way more insulted when he lied to us as a way to start a war in Iraq and have thousands of our people killed. Now that makes me feel insulted.

I THINK WHAT DEVITO DID ON TV AND WHAT ALL THESE OTHER PERSONNELITIES SAY NASTY REMARKS MADE AGAINST OUR PRESIDENT HELPS NO ONE BY THE PEOPLE OUR SERVICE PEOPLE ARE FIGHTING. IT GIVES THEM AMUNITION TO HELP RECRUIT PEOPLE TO CONTINUE THEIR CAUSE AND CAUSE MORE LOSS OF LIFE. DEVIDO HAS A RIGHT TO TALK BUT KEEP HIS NASTY REMARKS WHERE THE BELONG(IN THE BATHROOM SO HE CAN FLUSH THEM AFTER SAYING THEM).HIS REMARKS ARE NO BETTER THEN THE ONES MICHARD RICHARDS SAY TO THE BLACK PEOPLE. BUT HE IS APOLIGIZING FOR HIS REMARKS. I THINK DEVITO SHOULD GO ON TV AND APOLIGIZE TO THE PRESIDENT AND THE COUNTRY AND HE SHOULD PHONE THE PRESIDENT AND APOLIGIZE TO HIM ONE TO ONE LIKE A REAL MAN SHOULD.

Danny Devito is the perfect poster child for the angry liberals of America. His display on
The View" illustrates just how childish, ridiculous, and hateful liberal-Democrats have become. It also goes to show that they have nothing of substance to offer in the governance of this country.
