Thanks for the lovely comments about the recording. I sure had a heck of a lot of fun playing drums and percussion on it, glad you liked it. All the best, Brian Simpson

Good review, Steve. You have an ear for the nuance in Dan hicks' music and a concise style in your writing. It's always good to find a reviewer who recognizes Dan for the true treasure that he is!

Could this be the same Brian Simpson who called in to the afternoon NPR show that featured an interview with the [Break Like the Wind] band. That was a very witty exchange you had with the host and guests, Brian! Good little plug for Dan, too! |

Yep, guilty as charged! That was me. I did go see the Guest, Shearer, McKean show last Wednesday in Oakland, and it was "fall-out-of-your-chair " funny. Not surprisingly we ran into Dan there with guitarist Paul Robinson from Dan's Bayside Jazz group (who I also play with). They are McKean, etc.) apparently doing a "Tap, Mighty Wind, Guffman" collection of tunes album to be released later this year. That'll be on my Amazon list! |
