There are 6 comments on the San Bernardino County Sun story from Sep 17, 2010, titled The true meaning of independence. In it, San Bernardino County Sun reports that:

The days Sept. 15 and 16 are special holidays in the history of Latin America. It is important to discuss the meaning of these days when, for too many people in the United States, because of money-hungry advertisers, the days are now comprised of beer commercials and Latino stereotypes.

Who the hell cares. What have they done with their "independence" in Mexico? They are completely corrupt. Drug Lords run the country and 5% of the population controls 99% of the wealth while the rest of the country is dirt poor. So, who cares.

Perhaps if they had been liberated by a group of Dead White European Males they would actually have a middle class.

You can't have "independence ", when you are stuck in the mud and being a slave on the democrat plantation.

One thing about it. Whether some of us like it or not, America is quite organized, however; not perfect. But it beats the hel! out of that.

Unfortunately, our educational system disregards the pursuit of justice and equality because understanding the actual is void in vocabulary and language of authority professing truth. Authority like Professor Calderon identifies himself as the president of the Latino and Latina Roundtable.

Identification is a process. It starts with what we are thinking, do, desiring, we start with assumptions, or with ideals which are not actualities, and so we are led astray.

The professor offers an idea of true citizenship which goes beyond narrow legal definition to include equality in all spheres. Is this possible? Can the individual depend on society, who is corrupt, for radical change? No. The individual cannot depend on society. Society is corrupt. Can the individual change society?

Yes, if the individual is interested with facts and not with assumptions. The individual need close attention and every form of thinking not originating to understand what is actually taking place both within and around one.

If you are a Latino, your visions follow a certain pattern, if you are Catholic, a Buddhist, or a Arab, you follow a different pattern. As you can see, according to your conditioning, your education, the culture in which you have been brought up, determines your visions.

Which is the actuality, the vision, or the mind that has been shaped in a certain mold? The vision is the projection of the particular tradition which happens to form the background of the mind. This conditioning, not the vision which it projects, is the actuality, the fact. To understand the fact is simple, but it is made difficult by our like and dislikes, by our condemnation of the fact, by the opinions or judgments we have about the fact.

True citizenship (awakening intelligence) goes beyond society, beyond conformity, beyond culture, beyond a projection, beyond a pattern. To be free of these various forms of evaluation is to understand the actual, the what is.

Understanding the actual gives us the commonality that give us a human reason to celebrate independence.

This guy Calderon is just another whiny ethnic hustler. He probably pulls down 90K of gringo tax dollars at his cushy teaching job.
Gringos won't respect you Calderon, until you stop the whining. Fact is, Latin America is a dump because your people made it a dump. Now you're pissed off because our people -- who made our country good -- don't wanna share it with every Tom, Dick and Geraldo who thinks they have a "human right" to be an American.
Fix your own countries and quite whining. That 90k you get from the gringos wouldn't be possible without the white people who created this coutnry, that you hate so much.
