river-place STINKS!! I love musikfest, but ever since they moved the big concerts to this piece of crap location, I won't buy another ticket there again. It is smack right in the middle of the river and the canal, the bugs eat you alive. What is worse--- they tie the chairs together in a row and the LARGE person next to you sits in your chair more than you do... The stage is so far away because the area river place is in is so long and narrow-- unless you are in the first few rows, you cannot see anything except the monitor... We can do that on TV at home!

Anyone know what is going on in the area of the old ampitheatre down there?

And Live is a nice addition. Unfortunately some of these concerts are not well attended, like Stone Sour last year.

Isn't that part of the land Moravian is building the dorms on?

I agree that Riverplace is not an ideal venue because of how long and narrow it is. But ever since they put the fountains in the canal the mosquitos are gone.

Oh, that makes sense I guess. Although, they are far from the main campus.

Ah, I didn't know what those fountains were for either. The bugs eat me alive during my runs down there.

I grew out of Live a long time ago. Kowalzyk is a self righteous, Buddha loving, Michael Stipe wannabee. For the record Im a huge REM fan despite not always agreeing with their politics but Live just annoys me. They have not made anything noteworthy since Throwing Copper.

Collective Soul are a decent band but Im not inspired enough to spend money to see them.

John Fogerty is a legend. He has made some new albums that corporate radio has ignored. Of course WDIY has given his new material the airplay it deserves but no one else. I will definitely see John Fogerty. Maybe even triple K will go to this one.

I do agree with you on the Throwing Copper- they have not had anything good since then. However, I do still enjoy listening to them. I guess I'm still stuck in the 90's.

I saw Live at the Riverplace last time they were there. It was a phenomenal show. They played the old favorites and some newer stuff :) I will be seeing them again.

You have to be extra motivated to endure a show at Riverplace. These acts are better than the usual fare, however.

Yep. It's been completely obliterated. It's gone. Along with the historic root cellars they uncovered.

Remember the days of sitting on the hill and listening to the concerts for free?

They are a part of south campus. Where the arts and music buildings are.

Moravian has a south campus right there, I think it is primarily arts related but I'm not 100% sure.

Should have read your post before responding. I was pretty sure that was arts and music campus.

Although with the size fo the dorms I'm assuming that many from main campus will also be living there.

Hopefully the students will add some needed foot traffic to main street during the weekdays.

Yeah it's arts and music but it is still like a 7 block walk (uphill) to the main part of campus.

There is a shuttle bus for the students to go back and forth.

College kids are young. It's not that far, really, and it's downhill on the way back.

Deep Purple was awsome. I was disapointed with Steppenwolf. For one thing the volume was way too low. I could here the person next to me talk in a normal tone of voice.

I am checking out Boston this year. I have wanted to see them since I used to play the first album over and over on the 8-track played in my car.
