The very least Ms. Paltrow can do for those of us in her land of birth that she now obviously disdains, is to turn in her passport and then simply leave us alone.

She was the beneficiary of a very posh education and was brought up in complete affluence and so it is somewhat understandable that her obsession with American "materialism" would surface now that she is richer that most of us who toil for a living and yes, actually talk about it at dinner. Both she and her buddy Madonna have oodles of free time that most people on this planet do not have and so no doubt their table talk is of rarified life as only they can afford to live it. Middle class and lower class Brits are much more likely to select conversational subjects that reflect their day to day lives - very much in the way we do though I doubt that either of these women spend time with folks who are just plain old ordinary.

The insults are misplaced but nonetheless Ms. P is entitled to be as rude as she wants. We who live in the US ought to understand, however, that
there is no mandatory attendence requirement placed on us to view her films. It truly is time for we who are being blamed for everything that goes wrong anywhere in the world to say No More by traveling to places that welcome us; by buying books that aren't filled with hate towards America; and to avoid the work of actors and actresses who feel that their wealth entitles them to spout off political opinions that tend to come from tenuous understandings of the real world and are frankly less valid than those of the man in the street who doesn't have access to a microphone.

Just sorry it's the British who have to take her in! They who are so polite, deserve better.

This is what I cannot understand about you movie star obsessed freaks. You make these turds of society like Paltrow, Madonna, etc - rich by buying their DVDs and watching their movies and so forth. But you are nothing to them but a pile of cow turds in a field. They wouldn't give you the time of day or give a hoot about the ordinary people of this planet. They laugh all the way to the bank as long as these dumb idiots are shelling out big bucks to buy and watch their garbage movies, etc. And at the same time looking down on the "ordinary folks" who are the ones that made them what they are. I do not watch movies, listen to music or support these arrogant snobs in any way shape or form. These celebrity types are the worst lot you can imagine. Drug abusers, sexual deviants, and just plain old immoral individuals if you ask me. Stop supporting celebrities and they will become plain old ordinary folks just like you and me. F%#k these people, they are nothing but slime.

I thought Mother-in-law sounded like a really good movie when it came out. But guess what? I found out who was in it, Jane Fonda. Too bad I was unable to watch it. So here comes another American-hating "STAR."
I'm simply going to add the stuck-up, holier-than-thou Paltrow to my Jane Fonda list of unwatched actors and their movies. Have a nice life in England, SOOOOOOO glad we were able to help finance it for you!

Dear Ms. Paltrow,
I apologize for my unfortunate upbringing. It makes me quite ashamed that I was unable to originate from such an enlightened society. Please forgive my bland and rather muddied syntax; but as a lowly and cerebrally challenged American, I had scant a chance in progressing as anything more than a money grabbing super consumer.
I do wonder however, if given the chance to migrate, "across the pond" as they say, I would be able to instantly achieve such spontaneous insight and increase my cranial capacity. How did the transformation occur for yourself? Was it in fact instantaneous, or was your realisation about the impotence of the American mind more gradual.
It brings me great regret to inform you that, in the future I will be unable to comprehend much more than what the entertainment industry presents to me. Or perhaps, my lack of superiority will prevent me from understanding even those messages.
I beg of you, never come back to this country. The world could little bear the burden of having you return to such meager soil. It would be too catastrophic to humanity, for you to resort back to your primitive ways. Please maintain the elitism that you have achieved, though please have mercy on your humble subjects.

why isn't she allowed to think people in England are more intelligent ? It's called opinion....and people that are telling her to turn in her passport for having an opinion on American intelligence, actually add to her theory.

Forget her.... She has shown her true self! Life is short and we will be the better for her leaving the USA. I've traveled the world and the rest of the world wants to come here for a reason! Yea, we have problems and bad politics... But we continue to try! I guess she is just too dang' rich or too dang' lazy to keep her knees together... I will NOT see her in the movies.... or any DVD! P.S. Tell her to take Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Barbara Strisand with her.

Its too bad that this "perfect" woman forgets that her Promised Land of England and even her own existance would probably not exist if it hadn't have been for the sacrifice of thousands of us crass Americans who joined with England against some guy named Hitler.
How can she possibly forget that Bruce Paltrow, being Polish-Jewish, had many generations of rabbis in the family tree would probably have been eliminated should us Americans not decided Hitler was bad news.
Oh I stand corrected, all we are interested in is what we gave her plenty of .... money!
Would seem that perhaps some of her evening conversionations should be with someone who remembers little things like History! I bet there are still some in England that could talk about that.

England can have the cheesy Bit#* and her man's band is possibly the worst ever top 40 pop drivel to come out of england ever. Thank god we left that place. I can easily say I will never watch one of her movies again. Not that there is a good one that I can remember. I am sure our culture will be barren without such works as "shallow hal".
Good riddance to a mediocre actress and crappy band!

Seems to me the Brits and the French and others in post-modern Europe can afford to be more polite and polished now that they no longer bear any responsibility for world security like they did in the past when they had to wage war and pillage to garner their wealth. It's the U.S.'s turn to be out in front to try to keep the world safe and unfortunately that requires a little crudness and swagger. Please forgive us Gwenyth. The world still requires maintenance and upkeep, two words that are certainly in your Ivy League vocabulary but outside your realm of experience. Enjoy the countryside and your Jane Austin novels.

But really, Peter.. who cares what you think.. We think you can keep her and I could give you a list of several dozen other so-called celebrities and politicians that are equally Anti-American, and you can have those "enlightened" souls also. Most Americans have a simple philosophy: If you don't like it here, Go AWAY... and don't come back.

If Paltrow wants to stay here in England then she is welcome to my British Citizenship if I can have her American one. I have loved America and everything American since I was a child. I do not believe for a second that the British are more intelligent - she should visit some of the rough estates and listen to people who cannot even string a sentence together - it is embarrassing! I do not hate my country and am very proud of its history - a history that America has played a part in thank you very much. My grandparents and great-grandparents told me the stories of how the Americans came here to help fight during World War II. We worked together and helped rid the world of a common enemy. A lot of Americans are from Europe such as Paltrow and should remember how her ancestors left Europe for a better life in the very country that has afforded her a great life - the USA! Look how many British actors and singers move to the US for a better career and greater success. No one can do success like the Americans - I love that about them! They do things BIG! I am not saying that Britain or Europe should be forever grateful to America or that Americans should believe themselves better than the rest of the world - that level of pride is never healthy but I think people should have respect for their homeland and history. For Hammeredthumb - we British are nothing like the French and we are certainly not polite or polished - visit the UK and you will see for yourself. Yes, that England is from the Jane Austen era and not true of today. France is also a long way from polite! I visited New York earlier this year and the Americans were extremely polite, friendly and well mannered. Give yourself some credit over there - American does not equal crass or vulgar. You people have a great spirit that a great deal of us actually admire. Yes, it is true that in this period of history the task of world protection has fallen to the Americans. Britain spent a long time carrying out that role and I like to think that we are still helping out with that but as the support rather than the leader - like the Americans in World War II. I think people should give the USA a break and focus on all the good stuff it gives the world and the amazing people that it has. Dare I say that I think a lot of the anti-American rubbish comes from some sort of jealously. The USA is wealthy, powerful, confident and self-sufficient. How many other places can truly stand up and say that - not many! I am very sure that if something awful happened in England or Europe Paltrow would be on the first plane back to the good old USA because she knows she will be safe there. I love Britain and am very proud of my nation but I also love the USA and think it is a great nation of great and INTELLIGENT people. Every country has its good and bad - Paltrow is ignornant to generalise like that. She needs to meet the 'real' Britons and she will see that intelligence has missed a great deal of them out. I agree with AnnieB - if you do not like a place then stay the hell out of there. LONG LIVE THE USA! I cannot wait to visit again next year.

Paltrow is absolutely correct. Yes, and if you don't believe her, look at who she uses as authority...Madonna. What a combination! You be the judge. One thing, unfortunately, is correct. The stupid American public will go along and stick their heads in the sand and continue to buy her products (TV, Movies, etc).
