Clark Gable was nominated for best actor but did not win in 1939. Robert Donat won that year for Goodbye Mr. Chips.
Mr. Gable won the best actor award for his 1934 performance in "It happened one night" with Claudette Colbert who happened to win the best actress award and that film won best picture. |
