The guy survives multiple mach flights but the little puddle-jumper gets him. What a mundain way to go. God speed, Scott Crossfield. Thanks for all you've done for flight.

Johnny Armstrong: Scotty was my inspiration to go to Edwards AFB in 1956 to become a flight test engineer. His flight to Mach 2 thrilled many in 1953 and in his last years he continued to share his love of flying with the younger generation. I had the pleasure of being a flight planner on the X-15 beginning in 1962 until the end of the program and meeting Scotty on several occasions. His dedication to X-plane projects was constant and unwavering. The Testers at Edwards bid you happy landings on your final flight.
