It's so disheartening that Bridgeport and Stratford can't find a way to resolve this matter after all this time.

Sen. Chris Dodd announced Wednesday that Sikorsky Memorial Airport will receive a $570,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to rehabilitate the airport runway.

In 2003, the Federal Aviation Administration "mandated" the lengthening of the two runways to accommodate unpaved safety overruns at each end. Stratford and Connecticut officials have vigorously resisted the FAA effort to install the overruns, but the FAA has notified Stratford, Bridgeport and state officials that it may obtain a federal court order to use "eminent domain" to complete necessary work to add the overruns.

Key words..."Sen. Chris Dodd", "$570,000 federal grant", "Mandate" and "Eminent Domain"!

One of the few things that people don't think about .
America is Not a democracy- America was
founded on the basis of Roman Republicanism, not Greek democracy.
In a democracy , every single person has a say in every single thing-its run by the majority. In a republic they had elected (by the people) representatives to go to senate and vote on everything-its run by law.
A government where one person is solely responsible for the entire country is a monarchy. They aren't held accountable by the people or to the people, they are the ultimate and supreme power... which eventually ends in beheadings and hangings all around(see French Revolution).
The founding fathers made quite sure that we wouldn't be subject to an "ultimate " power with our system of checks and balances.. we can also thank the romans for that.

Very true, however, the "system of checks and balances" is, of late, being skewed by dishonest politicians. Even though it's true that we need new blood, new people, new thoughts and new ways of doing things in DC, I fear that the new recruits will just get swallowed up in the political machine and nothing new will get done, or even be introduced as options. I'm also apprehensive of those in office right now. The way things are going, a socialist government isn't all that far off, as far as regulating most aspects' of the American public's lives. Health care reform is just the beginning.

Well, Senator Dodd ...$570,000 ??????

You only have about $999 million dollars to make up to U.S. taxpayers for your failed mortgage SCAMS with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. SCAMSm by the way, which are still in operation (at taxpayer expense) today.

Do us all a favor and investigate assisted suicide.

Barry and his wife tell all of us to tighten our belts and then he sends her off on a $400.000 vacation. He and all the other rich libs are like royalty of the old. They play in their palaces, pass out crumbs to the peasants, and get in a huff when anyone critizes them about it.
