This man has no common sense. How did the airlines miss ammo on his check in. If he left out of MB then that's where security dropped the ball! Just because he is a minister does not excuse his lack of common sense..........I sincerely hope he gets some travel smarts!

Speaking of having no sense. if you would research or follow the story, pastor miles declared the bullets at the airport in MB. They were not missed. He was told by airline officials that they were fine and should be fine when he got to Russia. But thanks for sharing anyways, even though your ignorance is abundantly clear.

There was no dropped ball. Our TSA allows ammo in checked luggage. Russia doesn't allow ammo in checked luggage. The ball was dropped on there end, but they did catch it.

Things do slip through. I was once on a plane out of MYR with a lady who was drinking tequila from one of those flask bottles. She was escorted away once the plane landed, since such a bottle should never had made it through security (and at 5am, you aren't buying one in MYR).

We take our freedom for granted! I wonder what would happen if someone came in here with bullets and got arrested! They would sue and say they have rights! Just pointing out how another country has law and order. We could use some of that.

Just another over the top hypocritical religious zealot, doing what he knew was wrong because he thinks he's better then anyone else. He's no one's hero, just arogant.

No one is perfect. Sometimes the mistakes people make are without common sense. Only God has the right to condemn someone's soul to hell and it is his decision alone. If you don't like this man or are especially disapointed with his actions I suggest you use it as a learning example and get on with your life. Or do you not have anything better to do than post nasty messages about others on a public forum?

Looks like you really need to get a life. You'd never say such things to someone's face because if you had that kind of courage you would need to do it here.

If it were not for the ones that paid for his high priced attorney, Miles would probably still be in that Russian prison. God did not get Miles out of prison, Dominic Starr did. Give credit to the one that deserves it. Mentally, God kept Miles sane, if in fact he is sane. Miles must have been insane to take ammunition into RUSSIA. Anyone with any common sense knows not to do that. He got what he deserved.
Don't blame the Russians.

I think Pastor Miles got the attention he wanted.
Was I the only person to notice the staged "looking up to god" pictures that were taken in Russia?
I'm sure he thought that he could get out of anything because "God" was on his side.
Wow!

You all are either unaware of, or ignoring some of the facts. 1) When Pastor Miles went through customs and declared the rifle bullets (and I doubt that was in Myrtle Beach-you go through customs at the last connection before leaving the country) he asked the customs agent what to do in Moscow. If he should declare the bullets there. He was told to read the English signage in the Customs area upon arrival and follow those instructions. 2) There was no mention in the English language of a need to declare rifle bullets. The English signage was given as evidence in the appeal. Don't know if it was brought into the original trial or not.
P. Miles actions may have been thoughtless, naive, or (in his own words to Graeme Whats-his-name from wpde) "kinda dumb" looking back on it, but not arrogant. 3)I don't know what, if anything Dominic Starr got paid for handling the media locally, and nationally, but he deserves whatever he did get for controlling things here. If he had anything more to do with the trial situations in Russia than communicating with the attorney's, officials, and family here I haven't seen heard or read any evidence of it. The trial attorneys were in Russia. He was here handling communication with the media for the family.

It's quite humorous to me that a few of you can type such cruel and hateful comments about something that you might not know all about. Pastor Miles is happily at home with his family enjoying his new release and you are sitting at your computer typing mean things just to get off. Are you getting off? Congrats Pastor Miles. I wish you and your family well.

You know not whereof you speak.
I might not agree with everything I have ever heard Phillip Miles say or do,(And I do not attend church there by the way) but I have known him and his wife and children for 23 years-our children range in the same age groups-and I can tell you one thing for double-d-dog certain; One thing Phillip Miles is NOT is a fake. He may speak without thinking and regret it, and he definitely acted without thinking in this case and deeply regrets it, but he 'ain't' a fake. Phillip would probably need help to "stage" a puppet show.
If I thought for a moment that he did this with ANY ill intent, I wouldn't defend him. But he didn't.
I am outta here. Two things I can't abide is ignorance and bitter comments that come without justification or knowledge.

The Russian Government chose to give him mercy. His flock saw fit to give him forgiveness. Who are we to offer condemnation.
