Leave it to Cheap Trick to mess things up. Last night, after the rain broke the weather's ovenlike mean streak, the band heated the night again with a set of rockers and irrepressible hits in the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion.

Neilsen is sixty three years old and was running around the stage with the energy of a twenty year old. Zander is fifty seven and showed is voice is still strong. Amazing.

This show was a blast! I agree about the similarity to Led Zep in CT's Baby Loves to Rock; I was thinking the same thing the other day. I don't agree with any lag in CT's setlist. Heaven Tonite gave the crowd a few minutes to cool down.
On another note, For a city that thinks it's so darned sophisticated and savvy, Columbus should be embarrassed to have a toilet bowel like the LC Pavilion for concerts. The cement stage looks like it was poured in an afternoon; no seating, unless they bring out folding chairs, and if it rains, tough luck. The sad part is that there is a beautiful new arena across the street, which is dying to be used. Why does Rush rate the arena and not CT? Damned devil worshipers!
Thank you Cheap Trick for putting on a fantastic performance despite the crap venue Columbus has to offer.

Very impressed with Squeeze, as they sound better than ever.
Was anticipating Cheap Trick's set, but was disappointed that they skipped some of their best songs, including "If you Want My Love," "The Flame" "Tonight's It's You", and "She's Tight". If they would have included half of these songs in their set last night, I would have been satisfied.

C'mon, this is what the people want to hear.

You must have gone to a different concert. Cheap Trick opened with a song unfamiliar to most people there, and never gained momentum. We sat in the center of the lawn, and everyone around us looked and acted bored the entire time. When they finally played a hit -- Surrender -- they played it poorly, and then disappeared after a one-song encore, despite a few people shouting to hear the hit, The Flame. the applause that usually follows the end of the show? Non existent. Why a dated act like this would decline to play every famous song it has (which is why people see a dated act), is astonishing to me. It almost shows contempt for the fans. Squeeze played the hits people came to hear, and they loved it; Cheap Trick was uninspired, one of the worst shows I've ever seen.(And what was with Zander's Kenny Chesney outfit, with the cowboy hat and T-shirt? Totally not Cheap Trick. And Rick bringing out the crazy multineck guitar only at the very end? None of it made sense. Give the people what they want, or don't bother.)

Sorry, I was at the Highland Park, IL concert on July10.
Didn't realize this was a different concert.

Still, I stand by give the people who shell out the money to go see them what they want!

Hey No longer a fan, Cheap Trick and myself are glad you are no longer a fan. People like you should never attend concerts but instead stay home and listen to your greatest hits cds on your IPOD. Cheap Trick put on a great show. Maybe if got off your butt and stood up like us diehards you would've enjoyed the show. But instead you you sat the whole time with your umbrella drink in your hand and talked about world events to impress your date. Try listening to something other Top 40 crap radio. You to someday could appreciate good music but I doubt it. Songs like ELO Kiddies, Ballad of TV Violence & Baby Loves to Rock were awesome in concert the other night. It's nice to go to a concert once in awhile and not hear the radio hits all the time. Keep Rockin Cheap Trick. Hopefully next we can hear "Reach Out".......

I used to jam with Cheap Trick back in the day. I had a little ditty called "Free Turd". Zander suggested a name change and the rest is rock-n-roll history.

To longer a fan....I'm not sure you're a fan if you didn't know the opener "Way of the World" which is classic CT. I agree with Rocker41 - stay home. I was up front and we were having a blast!

I saw Squeeze in Columbus after a long drive from Ontario, accompanied by my daughter who was at her first Squeeze/Tilbrook gig. Though I was disappointed that Squeeze were the opening band, I was not disappointed by the band, their set or the energy. Only 2 songs were missing, "Mussels" and "Another Nail". Never mind, they were awesome. Glenn is as hot as ever with the guitar and Chris has matured into a fine singer. The band were TIGHT, and it's good to see John Bradley back again. Stepehen Large makes his keyboards sing and simon Hanson is a drummer to be reckoned with.
Great show....we hope to see you again very soon.
