As Queen Bitch 's insistent, irresistible guitar riff kicks off yet another major motion-picture trailer, is this how the reclusive David Bowie feels? The 1971 song, from David Bowie's Hunky Dory , was the sexy, energetic centre of the 2008 film Milk and now underscores the trailer for Young Adult , starring Charlize Theron as a "psychotic ... NO!!!! First off, to even think about David Bowie dying is heartbreaking. It's heartbreaking enough to daydream daily of meeting the man and thinking how stupid I was to wait so long to get into his music just because I was afraid of falling more for him since I fell into Jareth's (a character he played)spell. I did end up falling for him more than any other singer/actor I've ever known and would still love to meet him, if only for a minute. Dude, I'm even trying not to cry as I write this.
Secondly, we should all be thanking this man every single day of our lives for gracing us with his presence and allowing us to hear his beautiful voice or see him in a movie/show. He's touched so many lives and everyone describes him as their hero (especially me). He's like that long lost relative you just found out about and are dying to meet just to know who they are. It's like he's a part of our lives without actually being a part of our lives. He cares so much about others and he's got such a great heart and personality. Iman is a lucky lady to have found such a treasure because that's not a common occurrence nowadays. I wish I could talk to him just once to tell him how much he is loved and how much we all just cherish him for what he's done for us through his music. Even if he never writes me back, I am always going to write to his info@davidbowie.com web address every holiday, birthday, or anniversary of his or his family members' just so he knows he's still so loved and will never be forgotten. I could really kick myself everyday for being so stupid and afraid to listen to his music just because I didn't want to fall too hard for him. I guess I just figured if I stuck with Jareth it would hurt me less knowing I couldn't meet him (Jareth) because he isn't real, whereas if I listened to David Bowie's music and fell for him it would hurt me more if I could never meet him knowing he's the real thing. Then I had a dream about Jareth and decided I better just listen to David Bowie's music and develop my crush on the real person because I figured it would be healthier if I had a crush on him versus Jareth. Now I just have to deal with the pain and guilt of taking so long to do it.
I'm way off track now though. Just had to get that out in the open I guess. WE SHOULD NOT WAIT UNTIL THE SADDEST DAY IN THE WORLD TO LET DAVID BOWIE KNOW WE LOVE HIM DEARLY AND THANK HIM FOR COMING INTO OUR LIVES, EVEN IF HE DID SHOW INDIRECTLY.

Love always
Jackie

Tigger, I feel your words and devotion to our man David Bowie. I have followed David for nearly 4 decades and have been one of those fortunate enough to have lived his life with him. I have been a fan and follower for 38 years and counting. I have seen David many times live and met him once but couldn't find the words to speak. I feel your pain and this is why I had come up with the idea to honor David with a world wide event centralized in the US to start but there were not enough supporters for the proposal known as Bowiefest 2011 - Honoring a Legend . The proposal was going to presented to David himself and his managers but with the stipulation that we had at least 5,000 supporters but again, the goal was not reached. Therefore the idea of Bowiefest 2011 - Honoring a Legend was dropped. Perhaps, in the future it will happen. With fans like you, we can make it happen some day. David Bowie deserves to be recognized for everything he has given to so many and to the music industry. "High Praise to you" for you love to David.

Your support on my love for Mr. Bowie is really appreciated. I am sorry that Bowiefest could not come into action. I would definitely be one to support that event! Mr. Bowie needs to be recognized and honored for his "seduction" of the world. I love him with all my heart for just his personality. My one regret is that I waited so long to listen to his music. I would love to meet him in person one day, but I respect his decision to retire and want to be with his family. I just wish I could have seen him perform just once, in person I mean. I've seen him a number of times on youtube and he really captures his audience. Admittedly, I first saw him in Labyrinth and I suppose that's when I really fell in love with him, though I guess I just didn't recognize it. He was so believeable as Jareth, the Goblin King, that I was trapped in his (Jareth's) world for years! Finally, I had a dream a while back that made my decision for me that I should listen to Mr. Bowie's music. After I did I fell even deeper in love with his personality because he doesn't just write or sing about love or hate, but real life events and suffering. He's really made me take a good look at myself and want to change who I am, for the better. For that alone, I will love Mr. Bowie forever! The only way I could think of to honor him was a Bowie Knife necklace that I now wear around my neck. It reminds me everyday of Mr. Bowie, who he is and what he stands for. I get aggravated at those who claim he is gone (dead) and I make it known. I'm very devoted to this man and feel like I have known him all my life, even though we have never met. Again, if you ever need support for a Bowie event YOU HAVE MY 1,000,000+ PERCENT SUPPORT!!! Please don't ever stop trying!

AngelaAVA,

I started a blog yesterday for David Bowie fans to be able to write any memories they have of the great Mr. Bowie and asked them to leave a comment if they were interested in having an event in the U.S honoring him. I don't know how many people will look at it or sign it, but here is the link if you want to see if you can get any signatures. I just really want to see this event happen some day soon. Anyway, here is the link:

http://davidbowiefanswelcome.blogspot.com/

I hope to get enough signatures to get the ball rolling.

Anyone who reads this and wants to sign is welcome to go to the link!

Thanks,
Jackie
