Samantha Who? predictably tanked without Dancing with the Stars.
That tell you a lot about the lack of strength of that show. Also, if I read correctly, new episodes of Chuck, Sarah Connor and Gossip Girl got trounced by re-runs. I'll ask the question again: why keeps shows that are doing so poorly? The answer is that those networks are so broke, they have nothing waiting in the wings.:( But they'll tell anyone who wants to print an article that they're doing just great (again see Ben Silverman explaining why shows don't need viewers). |

wish CSI:Miami would go off and die somewhere. Sick of their lamo stories and bad acting.

Two and a half men?
I could swear it wasn't even on last night. |

What is a 3.5/6 mean how many tv viewers is that.Does anyone know?
|
||||
And yet, wth all that, they still attract more viewers than FOX, NBC and CW's supposedly "great" shows Sarah Connor, Gossip Girl and Chuck individually and combined it's probably close. That tells you how bad those other shows are. |

Rena I agree with you Why keep something like pB on the air just dragging it on is just so useless.
Even old cartoons and comedies did well on tv last night.:) |

wish CSI:Miami would go off and die somewhere. Sick of their lamo stories and bad acting. Hey Sherrie, the answer is simple, don't watch. I for one like the show. Nothing on the other networks even come close.

As predicted the 2 holiday specials performed well (11 million) and Samantha Who? got a series low in its hour without the help of Dancing With the Stars (6 million). Despite the shows low ratings, Samantha Who will be renewed for a third season just based on the fact that ABC has no other comedies. And networks keep shows that do poorly mainly because either they really like the show and hope it will do better or because they think that they'll get worse ratings by putting something new in the slot. |

I liked the digs at network tv during last night's Boston Legal. Why are they cancelled? They have been 2nd in the new time slot all season. At least they should get a full season.

When a bunch of reruns on CBS trounce originals on other networks without DWtS, that just either shows you how bad the other networks are or how great CBS has been since 1998.
Samantha Why Is She Still on Air? This is the one show on TV that has to go. It always has the best lead-ins and can never perform. SW looks even worse without a huge lead-in. ABC can this show and go back to multi-cams like Three's Company. As for CSI: Miami, its a fun procedural to watch, its not my favorite, but its still good TV and always produce in the ratings like a repeat getting a 7.5 and trouncing the competition. Don't hate shows like Miami just b/c they get huge ratings and you don't like them. If you look at the ratings then that should tell you to stop watching a show and wasting your time, but don't blame successful shows like Miami b/c you're show is doing bad. |

Did i say I watched it? Nope-stopped along time ago. It's only because it's on a Monday that it even gets ratings at all. I have a right to my thoughts so nevermind. CSI:Miami blows!! |
||||
I actually watch the original CSI. Even after all these seasons, it's still better and none of those other Monday shows i even watch. The ratings are not big for Miami when you look at the Nielson ratings for the whole week and not one night!!! |

I absolutely cannot believe that CBS won with all reruns. I do like some of the CBS shows, but was hoping that some of the others would get at least slightly higher ratings with new episodes. Since I also like Chuck and Sarah Conner Chronicles and My Worst Enemy (which is yet another casualty of NBC's "brilliant" plan of putting a new show against one that consistently wins the time slot) it just made it easier for me to watch TV Monday night.

The reason that Samantha Who is still on is because its the only sitcom that ABC has to work with besides the veterans According to Jim and Scrubs. And actually ABC is trying to move away from multicamera sitcoms and towards single cameras. Which is why all of there new comedies in recent years have been single camera. |

Prison Break might have been good as a mini-series. But the concept was completely flawed as a series, and Fox didn't know when to call it quits. It could have had a very succsesful mini and instead had a mediocrely rated show on for years... |
||||
Also, unlike shows like The Shield or Battlestar Galactica which hype bad filmmaking endlessly and thus cause other shows to be less interesting than they would have been, CSI Miami causes no damage.:) |
||||
I'm not following your slant.:) Would you have NBC put old shows against hits and thus concede without even trying? |
||||
Not sure what you mean. CSI Miami regularly scores in the Top Ten of the week. |
||||
Are we to understand that any show on Mondays would get high ratings? Someone should tell Ben Silverman. He'd put My Own Worst Idea For a TV Show on Mondays. ;) |
||||
I agree that based on their full-frontal assault of the shameful ageism of the TV industry, I'd support not just one but two more seasons!:) |
