I have to feel sorry for the foolish people who are following that false teacher, Harold Camping. What I wanted to tell him, and now they are not taking any more calls, is that he has to repent and tell all the listeners that if he is still here the day after, he will never every again try to figure out the last day.
We are told to walk by faith and not by sight. Jesus, the Son of man, said that neither the Son of man (Som) nor the angels in heaven know the last day or time. If Jesus is the Som in heaven then Harold has made himself equal to Jesus. If he is Jesus in heaven and the son of God, then he has made himself equal to Jesus. No matter how you interpret Jesus on earth or in heaven, Harold is putting himself equal to, or above Jesus Christ.
Using “with God a day is like a 1,000 years and …..,“ is incorrect. The three times, I believe, it is used refers to God’s value of time being differently than our perception of time. The only time 1,000 years is used to refer to a specific length of time is in revelation when he said that Satan would be chained for 1,000 years before he is let lose one last time.
I can easily grab some scriptures and use dates and numbers to come up with a time that Jesus will come. I can use the flood, revelation, Daniel, and four other books and I will get Jesus here within the next ten years. The only way I am correct is dumb luck.
“I will come like a thief in the night.” That is pretty specific. Satan was made the prince of this world since genesis. Where does camping get off saying that Satan was in charge, when?; after the church age or something like that. And who said that the Holy Spirit is off the planet? Harold. Last week he told a caller,“How do you know somebody is saved or not? Can you read their heart?”

First, I can ask them. Second, I am told to measure them by their fruit. You remember the fruit of the spirit, don’t you Harold. Love, joy, gentleness, kindness, peace, self-control, patience, goodness, and faithfulness. So I can use this as a measuring device.
If Camping does not have his staff walk out on him, then they have to say to him,“You have to repent and stop this. You’re wrong, again, and you wasted all this time on this nonsense, and you could have been using it to win souls to God’s kingdom.” God will judge us on what we did with our time. Harold’s is going to be burnt stubble, a pile of ashes, on judgment day.
He should also lose half his listening audience. I just saw people on MSNBC. People have quit their jobs, sold everything, given Harold money, and they claim he is worth $70Million. He is going to be judged so bad on judgment day, it makes me afraid. I would not want to live next door to the man. God might take me with him when he has the ground swallow up his house.
Mr. Camping. God is slow to anger, quick in love and abounding in grace and mercy. If I were you, I would take full advantage of it, quickly. You are 89 years old. Your time is closer than my time.

Well, David, I'm sure you'll know a little bit more about people of Noah's time by tomorrow.

I was raised a christian but became an atheist a number of years ago. I just couldn't swallow the superstious stories of various religious denominations. Harold Camping might be on the fringes of christianity but his example is just a more extreme example of all religions. Whether its christianity, islam, etc. there is one thing in common - there is no god. Just look at the number of christian splinter groups (numbering in the thousands) who all believe their version of christianity is the most correct. Its laughable when someone who believes in their version of the god in the sky comes out and says that Harold Camping is wrong.

As techology and weaponry become more advanced and accessible every year - its only a matter of time before a theist (of any denomination) gains access to these tools of destruction in a bit to satisify their lust to hasten the end of the world.

Just when you think you're top of the food chain these idiots keep dragging everybody down.

When will we ever learn.
