Lacuna Coil Working On 'Darker And Heavier' New Album
U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine recently conducted an interview with vocalist Cristina Scabbia of the Italian rock/metal band LACUNA COIL about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the group's follow-up to 2009's "Shallow Life" , tentatively due in the summer via Century Media Records .

Hello! Shallow life had some good songs, but didn't keep my ears above water in comparison to Karma Code. Here is the good, and the bad. The drums sounded programed, Criz's drumming style was buried. Where was his double, and triplet kick work??..also, they sounded like V-Drums at times (BOO!!) Was Criz even there in the studio? Or was the album programmed? Marco's bass tone wasn't what it was on KC either, and again, his playing was held back a bit. LC has 2 guitarists, at times, it sounded like only one guitar on the entire album. Last, Cri's vocals were held back, and in a lower register for many songs. I don't mind an occasional song in low register, like "I Wont Tell You" for example, but nearly every song? I saw them live at the House of Blues Hollywood during the Shallow life tour. Christina's vocals were flawless, she was spot on, and on key for every song, it is the best that I have ever heard her sing live. I am hoping that the producer will allow the band to play their instruments on this album, and return to the sound that made them a popular band. I look forward to a new album soon!
