But at the end of the day there are far more activities of a less glamorous nature which have far greater numbers of tragic injury. Skiing, Motorcycles, Bicycles, Ultra light flying, Rock climbing. These all result in injuries and they all have one thing in common with football. The people who do it do it voluntarily.

We should do what we can to provide protection for football players and we should make sure that everyone knows the risks and enters the playing fields aware of the potential danger but beyond that why should we wring our hands about the relatively small danger to some very highly paid pro football players.
