This is great news!!!!

If you've never heard of Wilco or had the opportunity to see and hear them live, take a chance on this. You won't be disappointed!

This is all just a ploy by the Tanglewood administration to make people think they give a damn what the public wants. It is ABOUT TIME the stuffed-shirts at Tanglewood woke up. I worked at an inn in Lenox for 13 years and have watched Tanglewood attendance spiral downward each year, despite what they would try to have the public believe. They have been asked for YEARS to bring in more popular programming but always resisted. Their response, quite like last year, is to bring in a "popular" act that will NOT sell out, just like their decision to bring in LeeAnn Rimes for July 4th last year. When the concert fails, they say, "We TOLD you so!" Perhaps they should bring in someone who we know would sell...Jimmy Buffet, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, etc. Someone popular who sells out everywhere they go. Anyone who thinks that Tanglewood will EVER do anything to sell anything other than dusty, crusty classical music to dusty, crusty patrons is insane. The board of directors is too hung up on their own sense of importance to admit that the key to Tanglewood's success is having a product that is marketable, not one that makes the board feel important and culturally superior.

Lyn-- I remember Tanglewood way back in the 50s-- it has changed-- that is what Tanglewood does-- as do all other organizations-- times change-- just learn to live with it. & enjoy!

Quite the contrary, SAL. Tanglewood has been begged by local businesses to break out of the opera and classical genre and it is too little, too late. I'd love to be given the opportunity to, as you say, "learn to live with it". I just want the changes to happen!

Who are these locals in the music industry? Skyboro Sound and a guy from Tune Street? If that's the "music industry" then the Berkshires ARE pathetic!

Thrilled about wilco, and don't miss the opening act - Andrew Bird, an eclectic, compelling musician. Check out his CD "Mysterious Production of Eggs" and get to know this guy. Wilco and Andrew Bird - this is my dream show!!

Wilco? Come on what a joke...a tree huggin dirt whorshipping band that has a sound they ripped from any number of a dozen other bands that are better.

Hmmm... clearly you're referring to all those bands that made records decades ago and are currently in amber.

Wilco are THE best touring band right now. Nils Cline sounds like no other guitarist in the world.

Every record they make is different, varied and moving.

Care to put your bands where your mouth is?

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Pisces

Whether the excesses of the past few days are catching up with you or you're feeling drained for other reasons, you need as much rest as possible today. Once you get tired, your defenses will be down and you'll start to fret about whatever is currently nagging away at the back of your mind. You're also concerned about the welfare of a certain person, which doesn't help.
