Can anyone tell me any info on the guy who plays bass guitar for Bon jovi? He never seems to get a mention anywhere.

And Hugh isn't even considered an official band member. Just Jon, Richie,Dave on keyboard, and Tico on drums. Hugh has been with Bon Jovi for a lot of years. He's always right there when Bon Jovi goes on tour. I don't know if there is some reason Jon doesn't want him as an official member or that's the way Hugh wants it. Wish I new the answer to that one. If anyone knows, I would appreciate you informing me and maybe some other fans who might want to know.

I think I may know...a LONG time ago I saw an interview like back when they first started, about the guys and how close they were and that there were only 5 guys and there would only be those five guys, if someone left they would not be replaced...when Alec "left" they needed Hugh to play but only play...I don't think they wanted to replace him in the band...hope that makes sense :)

Hugh must be very good natured to accept being kept on the sidelines for so long.Or maybe he prefers it that way.

ok do u guys not read all the interviews!! jon has said countless times that yes hugh is a better bass player than alec but he is not an official member because no one in the band will be replaced bacause they are so close. remember in 86 wen jon issued the band, crew, family and close friends with the slippery when wet pendants? well the people issued with them wer considered in the "inner circle" and jon says that it is really hard to get in and he used hugh as an example he said that hugh had played with them for so long but cudn't replace alec but apparently jon has since issued hugh with a pendant!!:D

I'm thrilled that Hugh got his. I had heard of the pendants before. Now, does Jon consider Hugh an official band member like he does the rest of the band. Do you know why Alec left the band in the first place. And who do you think is the best bassist? I just don't understand why Jon couldn't let Hugh in the inner circle. I know back then, it was all orginal members. I think that's the way guys think. But, often times, during the course of a bands career, bandmates come and go. The thing that is so awesome about Hugh is that he has hung in there for so long. When I hear Bon Jon, I think of Hugh, also. Am I making any sense to you? I hope you are able to answer my questions. I'm very curious about the whole Hugh thing. Jon may consider Alec a permanent member of Bon Jovi(a [permanent start up bass player) but he know longer plays with the band. HE WAS A BON JOVI MEMBER. THAT WAS PASSED ON TO HUGH. I heard that Alec left because there was friction himself and Alec? Looking forward to hearing from you. I just can't believe that Jon won't let Hugh into that inner circle. Whating for your reply

i'm still not sure if he's a member of the band but he definitely in the circle. Jon said in an interview once that Alec was kicked out because of substance abuse on stage and that it was affecting their live performance and that they spoke to him about it but things didnt change and they couldnt afford to let their live act suffer. but he still considers alec to be a member despite this...and yes u did make sense to me.

yeah it is good that hugh got a pendant. but jon said in an interview once that alec was kicked out because of substance abuse on stage and that it was affecting his live performance. Jon and richie spoke to him about it but things didnt change and they couldnt affors to let their live act suffer so they kicked him out. jon still considers alec a member despite this and sometimes still keeps in touch with alec. in fact alec played on stage with them at one of the concerts in 2001. i hope that helped you and yes u did make sense to me...

I'm glad all my rambling on made sense to someone. Thanks. I still think it would be cool if they made things official for Hugh(if that's what he wants) He seems like a really decent guy and he's always there for the band. Thanks for answering my post.

I think Jon should lighten up a little. Hugh played bass on Runaway back when he was nothing. He's the only guy in Bon Jovi who played on that track. Also, Hughs been touting and recording with them full time since 1994. C'mon Jon, make Hugh an official member. I think Jons just been super famous for way too long so he's lost track of reality a little. How can you not make a guy who's been playing bass for you full time for 17 years not an official member? This wouldn't happen if it was a lead guitarist. When Clapton left the Yardbirds Jimmy Page was made an official member. Jon Bon Jovi is a musical racist who hates bass players lol...That's a joke meatheads

Have you ever thought maybe Hugh likes it the way it is. I'm sure over the years it's been brought up. Hugh likes being where he is.
