Nothing really new but just found this article where it lists 13 celebrity familis who are normal. No drug arrests, no divorces etc etc. Jon and Dorothea are number 6 on the list (it's a family picture, minus Romeo) They are among a good list (Bono and Ali, Meryle Streep and her husband).

I love to hear a positive press story instead of a negative!

Thanks Lisa! It's nice that they are recognized but I am sure those families just want to have as normal a life as possible.

Thanks for the link, Lisa!

I've got a couple of questions:
1) Does Dot go by the last name of Bongiovi or Hurley? I noticed that there doesn't seem to be any consistency in the 'net on her last name. Some still call her by her maiden name of Hurley even now (several years after their marriage) and others call her Dorothea Bongiovi? Thanks!

2) I've just GOTTA ask this...who thought of the name "Romeo" for their youngest boy and why? Not that I'm bashing the name...I wouldn't do that. But I'm just curious as to what led to Romeo being named Romeo.:) Thanks again!

Dorothea bongiovi is what she goes by and the children use their fathers legal last name of bongiovi.

As far as Romeo I guess they just like the name. His middle name is Jon, so it is Romeo Jon.

She goes by the name Bongiovi. When the news reported the robbery that just happened at their home, they said the jewelery was under the name Dorothea Bongiovi. When her mother passed away in the obituary, it was written Dorothea Bongiovi. I think the press is not 100% sure and so to be on the safe side, they write Hurley but she definitely changed her name when she got married.

As for Romeo, I don't know who picked his name but the family has some issues. They named one child after a outlaw and another child after a character who kills himself!! I do like how they honoured Dorothea's family and put Hurley as Jacob's middle name Jacob Hurley Bongiovi and Stephanie's middle name Rose, is Dorothea's middle name too.

Thanks Lisa for the link. I like how they are aknowledged as being a normal family.

Thank you for posting the article Lisa.

Dorothea goes by the name Bongiovi. Not sure why the article uses Ali Hewson's, Michelle Obama's & Laura Bush's correct name but not Dorothea's - I think is plain rude.

Can't help you with the origin of Romeo. I seem to recall reading an interview with Jon years ago where he said they just thought the name was romantic.

Do you think it also has to be because Bon Jovi and Bongiovi are too different names? so if they were using her married name, it would still be different to how they write Jon? So it would be Jon Bon Jovi and wife Dorothea Bongiovi? That just came to my mind and probably doesn't mean a thing but maybe they could have something to do with it. Also, maybe the press don't know Ali's maiden name and that is why they write Ali Hewson. I hate seeing it written as Hurley because I know that she changed it.

Jon's legal last name is bongiovi so I don't think that is the reason. Just think the press is not doing their job.

Hi Lisa, I think if they wanted to they could just refer to Jon Bon Jovi (or Bongiovi if they wanted) and wife Dorothea. It would look better or preferable to me if they referred to Jon & Dorothea Bon Jovi.

I agree with BonJersey, I think the press just aren't doing their jobs.

Having said that, I'm sure Dorothea isn't particularly worried what the press call her, she knows she's Mrs Bongiovi. She wakes up in a morning next to Jon, gets to go to sleep at night next to him; and she's had four beautiful and (seemingly) well adjusted and normal children with him.

The majority of the time, they do write Bon Jovi or just Jon Bon Jovi and wife Dorothea which I like much better. She hasn't been a Hurley for 22 years and so it's laziness on the press side, I do agree.

No matter because as you said, Lesley, at the end of the day, she wouldn't worry at all. There is only one Mrs Jon Bongiovi.

Not sure where they came up with the name Romeo, but can you imagine being Romeo Jon Bongiovi? How cool is that?! If any kid can cary that name off, Jon's kid can.

I had to giggle at LisaS71's observation of the names that a couple of the Bongiovi boys have. Hey, just think if Romeo had been a girl, they could have named her Juliet!:) Come to think of it, Juliet Bongiovi has a nice ring to it as well! I've got to hand it to J&D...I doubt there are very many people who are named Romeo. I kinda like it.

Well after all the name Romeo was in a Bon Jovi song, so why not? Celebs tend to really come up with some crazy names for their children! I think Jon and Dot actually did a pretty good job with their children's names.

thanks for this. they are a good family and it's nice to see in the rock world, a man who sticks with his family. who remembers dave pirner from soul asylum?????????? he had a longterm girlfriend but as soon as he got famous, he left her and went out with Winona Ryder. jon is a good guy, who clearly loves his wife and kids. the kids names are fine. stephanie, jesse, jacob and romeo, what is wrong with that????????
