YAY! I like it, especially Jon/Richie. It's quite popular, actually. I think Bon Jovi slash fiction is just as popular as Beatles slash fiction. There's nothing wrong with slash. And some of it is actually written really well - I barely find a slash fic I don't like.

I only read Jon/Richie slash fics and I LOVE them.

There are a few exceptions but most het fics bore me to death after one chapter already.

A big YAY for slash from me !!!

IMO I don't like regular fanfiction, nevermind slash fanfiction.

Why? Because in many cases I find it disrepectful to the the real people who are being portrayed in someones fantasyland. I find it a creepy.

I know lots of people who love the fanfiction, just not my thing.

True, but still it's fiction, whether slash or hetero. I just it kind off funny that some people think that slash fiction is disgusting or pervy, while hetero stuff are doing and are about precisely the same thing.:/ Everyone has their different tastes, why can't people that are different be accepted?

No one said people who are different are not accepted. I find both slash and fanfiction to be creepy because it is taking real people and putting them in other made up worlds, alternate universe like. IMO since Jon and Richie are both heterosexuals and real people, portraying them as homosexuals, is super creepy. The same stories with made up characters would be fine. It is not the content of the stories that I don't like it is putting real people in the content for both slash fiction and fanfiction.

Yeah, but that's one of the downsides about the celebrity thing, they kinda get used like objects, don't they? But that's part of the package, I guess. I mean, each and every day we drool and ogle over Jon, Rich, David and Tico. I've read a few opinions from bands that know that fiction are written about them, and some of them feel weirded out, and some feel flattered by it.I don't really see the difference in weirdness between slash and het. Whether Jon/Richie screws a woman, or whether they're screwing each other, there really is no difference but the gender.

I'm not a fan of fan fiction period and I'd actually feel uncomfortable reading it. I'd not even heard of the term "slash" fiction before and had to google it to find out what it was.(I was thinking it would be something along the lines of slash movie type of thing which would be even more creepy that what it actually is)

I'm just surprised that women would want to read this type of thing. I know two women together seems to be a fantasy thing for most men but had no idea two men together is what some women get off on.(it certainly does nothing for me or any other woman I've ever talked with)

I agree with BonJersey that considering Jon and Richie are hetro, a slash fiction story involving them just makes it that much weirder.

You had to google it? That's funny. Slash is more of an underground thing, I presume. Well, it's a funny thing that you haven't really heard or thought about it that two men together might be some women's fantasy, because it's actually quite popular. Homosexual themes in writing/movies etcetera are usually produced by women.(Brokeback Mountain: Written and directed by a woman) and it's the same with slash fiction, it was started by women. Slash fiction isn't weird, how can you really judge it if you haven't even known about it until a few minutes ago? Bon Jovi slash fiction is one of the biggest fandoms next to the Beatles, and these two fandoms share striking similarities in the pairings. Slash is different from het: There's a different dynamic, a different approach and a whole lot of psychology behind the piece of writing. If you think slash is Jon and Richie dressing up like fruitcakes and doing fruitcakey things, well, you got another thing coming. XD

I love slash fics! I agree with you girls, it's much deeper and involves much more psychology in writing, plots and characters than most of the het fics. Most of them are Mary-Sue fics and if you have read one you know them all basically, it get's really boring after a while. Slash fictions have a different approach and whole lot psychology behind them just as Pippa wrote.

Yes, it's real people involved but I have to agree with Pippa what difference does it make if they screw some female characters or each other, it's just the gender.

And I don't think it's disrespectful either, because it is just fiction, it is written from fans for fans just for entertainment. Is it more disrespectful to imagine Jon cheating on his wife with some strange woman or with his best friend? I really don't see much difference in it.(Of course this is only for fics who are set in real life AU is a whole another story)

Besides who can be sure that Jon and Rich are hetero? They could just as well be bi for all we know. Sadly especially Jon would never own up to this because of way too many way too narrow minded people on this world who would get so upset and cause a huge scandal and his career and image would be ruined because this world still lacks tolerance unfortunately so we will never know. Just remember that it took people like Elton John years to actually come out to the public. How many men are even married and live in the closet all their lives because our society is too closed minded to accept their lifestyle. It is sad, really.

For women liking the hotness, of course we do! What's better than one sweaty, sexy hot guy? Two sweaty hot guys together! And Jon and Rich are just the best! I know many women who like this so it's a wide spread phenomenon. Like Pippa said I think Jovi slash is the biggest fandom right after Beatles slash in the music department. Then theres some huge manga fandoms I don't follow and even things like Harry Potter slash (bleah) and slash for various movies and tv shows like Dr House which I think has a bigger slash fandom than for it's het pairings by now. And of course the one that started it all, Star Trek. That must be the biggest of all times, still.

Please excuse my bad English today, it is late and I am tired.

Thinking for this "disrespectful" way...well, personally I think it's more disrespectful to write about Jon screwing stranges chicks around the world that only care about his looks (yes, cause that's what 90% of the het fics are) than sleeping with his best mate.

Anyway, I've always loved fics, I dont think it's a problem...
and I really dont think the band knows or wants to know something about this subject, so...
it's just for fun.
It's free you know? No one is harming no one, we all know it's fiction.

It's just a bunch of lies writeen by girls for girls. Just that. That's what slash is.

And we can't say they're all het in real life.
We don't know them.
We can't say they're gay either.

Whatever, everyone has their opinion, I think that when someone is famous this person kinda "turns into" a character, so that's why ppl write fan fictions.
Some people like to read it, some dont...so, whatever.
Both slash or het fics ar not harming them or their image, it's just a bunch of lies anyway.

It's just for fun.

And yes, I do prefer slash ficion than het. Mainly cause it happens that ppl who write slash fiction (Im sorry for who writes het) has more imagination for plot. And the fic is way more interesting.

I'm right there with you because I didn't know what it meant either!! I knew about fanfiction but not slash. I was thiking that it meant, horror/scary stories about Jon. What the hell do I know!?!? Now, that I know the real meaning, ummmm, no. I think my mind can go lots of places but not that place.

Sorry, I just don't get into fan fiction or slash. I can see regular erotic fiction, but when you write them about celebrities, I understand that they're public figures, but to me, it seems borderline creepy.
No offense to anyone who enjoys it, to each her own.

Pippa, why don't you post the link to your slash fiction board so those who enjoy a good Jon/Richie romp can read for themselves.

i like fanfiction if they are well written.

I understand that some think ff's are disrespectful to the real persons that are mentioned in those ff's.
bu then again ff'S are not that much different compared to many posts here on topix or anywhere else.

All that gutter talk is NOT better than ff's!!!

One thing I like most about ff's is that they tell a nice story and the author doesn't have to waste too much time in describing the characters and in telling about their history as we all kinda know the real persons.
