This would make for great discussion. Steven and Joe's relationship has always been stormy and complicated. Aerosmith is truly a band they split all monies 5 equal ways. It has been like this from day one. When Steven showed up at Joe's solo gig, he mainly did it to piss Joe off and he did. Steven had his GF Erin with him that night and that was more fuel for the fire.
I cannot see any situation where Richie will just walk on stage. In spite of what the Brothers Grimm have been preaching since day one, Jon is not letting Richie come back. Richie even said so. He also said the fans are not getting their monies worth. BJ is not a band it is a cooperation and the CEO is Jon. It would be hard to compare the BJ situation to a normal band. It is my belief that BJ only claims to be a brotherhood. Steven and Joe truly are brother's. I would say Richie would be kept off.
You seem to be quoting that comment of Richies an awful lot, so let me ask you this: have you thought there may be a reason why Jon is making it hard for him to come back? Do you honestly believe Richie is begging to come back and Jon is just folding his arms and stomping his feet and saying no for no reason? I mean really? He's just doing this cos he's an asshole? Cos he's a terrible bully that is sooo mean to poor innocent Richie?(Which would then beg the question why would he want to come back?!!)
At the end of the day I don't think he's stopping Richie from coming back at all. Every thing everyone has said in the camp, and jons own words, is saying the opposite. I just can't see a honest to god good reason as to why he would stop someone from coming back.

What do you mean? I'm sure Richie is getting paid if he's there or not. There must be a contract. I doubt the contract would be "show to show" if Richie was not getting paid and not allowed to go back I'm sure he will be fighting a lot harder to get back on tour and laywers would be involved.

I don't know if Richie is getting paid or not. And none of us know if the matter has gone legal between them or not. If one of them files a law suit then it will become public knowledge. If Jon can get Richie to quit instead of firing him it will look better for Jon. He will not have to deal with media questions and outrage from fans. He can simply keep going with his standard line "you will have to ask Richie". Jon will make a lot more money with Richie gone. Any replacement he uses will be a lot less than paying one of the core members. It all comes down to a matter money.

Why is it that hardly anyone can stay on the thread topic. Every thread seems to turn into a war of Jon fans VS Richie fans !! It doesn't have to be that way ! The topic on this thread is NOT why did you say that, blah, blah, blah ...
Geez, stop attacking people, just give your opinion on the topic or shut up . When someone gives their opinion on the topic stop attacking it, just give your own .

I've wondered if the $100,000 donation given to the Calgary charity just after that show was cancelled was Richie's pay for that night. :-)

Yes, terrible.:( And the Saddledome where they played is a bowl full of water right now. It's going to be a long time before there's any event in that arena again.

Well, Richie knows where the band is and I imagine should he wish to see and talk to them all he has to do is show up. I would guess the question to him would be "are you here to visit or to stay?" and depending on his answer would determine whether he walked onstage with the band that night or not.
Thoughts and prayers to the people of Calgary, the flooding looks awful.

This is a great topic because I've been wondering that myself. I know there are people who still think he might show up at Hyde Park for some reason.

If Richie would truly be prevented from going onstage if he showed up, I'm thinking he should just get a VIP pass and be in the audience and see what happens. What a scene that would be! It would freak the band and the audience out. Richie could be grooving and singing with the fans. ha, ha (I know this scenario for sure won't be happening!)

If it is an issue between the two of them which looks more and more likely I am surprised that the touring company, the record company and JBJ Management haven't exerted pressure to resolve things one why or another rather than just leave everyone--the band and fans--hanging. There are plenty of fans in the fall/winter dates who are waiting to see if Richie is back or not before buying tickets. Personally, I don't think there has been that many refunds requested and certainly more and more people are commenting favorably on the shows and planning on going to additional shows when originally they said they wouldn't

BTW Matt just commented once again a few hours ago saying, " we hope he comes back to but it is his call his decision again we were there so don't blame the band my friend"

It is my feeling just from reading reviews from both critics and fans that:

1. Critics have for the most part stopped mentioning that Richie is gone in their concert reviews. The focus of the press seems to be on Jon only.

2. Many fans -- even many diehard Bon Jovi fans -- have, as has already been mentioned above -- found they like Phil X's energy, his personae, and his playing. Some fans have said they don't care if Richie ever comes back, because Phil X seems to have injected a new, fresh energy into the band.

I worry the longer this goes on, the more damage it will do to Richie: Critics will continue to minimize or even flatly not acknowledge what he brought to that band, and fans will adapt to a different guitarist and figure that, since it's Jon's band, Jon can continue it with any musicians he likes. They are already doing this with Phil X.

If Richie comes back, he will have to do some damage control to contend with the legions of disgruntled fans.

Hopefully Jon will make an announcement soon. I'm glad some of the fans are liking Phil X because it's looking very unlikely that Richie is ever coming back.

Agree with your whole post, the longer that Richie is gone, the harder it will be for him to win back fans. Or it could be a case everyone is happy to see him back and not care about what went on.

And I think all fans, well most anyway, will be happy to see him back with the band. Some extreme richie fans are upset with others acceptance of Phil on tour, but the reaity of it for me anyway is that Phil has twice now stepped in for Richie when he couln't be there, he's done his best to learn and do justice without showing off or trying to shove it down anyones throats, the songs and back catalog of Bon Jovi, and I have to say one of the pleasures of this European tour for me has been Phil's tweets, he's like a kid running out to see every city he can. he has by all accounts been gracious with fans and very grateful for their acceptance. He is having soo much fun playing for these crowds and traveling the world, it's hard not to like the guy.
