Whitney should
stick to catchy tunes now her voice is limited
she needs to move away from the large vocal ballads and power songs - it will just enhance the fact that she cannot do them anymore.
If she sticks to small tunes with catchy melodies she may surface alright.

I just wish she would start doing Jazz again and catchy pop tunes.

Isnt this what Mariah does and then does whatever belting she can do at the end of the songs. Whitney needs to take some tips from mimi

Why Whitney should take some Mimi's style? None of Mimiís songs these days have been written to go higher than D7 anyways.

Like I Never Left is just nice for the 21st Century. Amy Winehouse doesn't even need 5-octave in order to hit sales up to 8 million copies worldwide.

the song probably needs an octave and a half to sing it correctly
I lover the first verse and chorus but Whitney tried to add runs (big mistake) which sound ridiculous with her new range!
no-one is more sorry to hear this/admit this than me!

you mention D7 like its a note any femalecan hit with the greatwest of ease
but if C6 is Top C (soprano)
then D7 is an octave and a tone above C6
Not easy at ALL

As for HIPHOPopular music these days, one has to be a performer ahead of being a good singer.

Like I Never Left there are some elements include adequate range and a pleasing crystal clear voice without overdoing it.

I happen to know a woman who can hit every note but her voice is just to annoying.:)

What about fly like a bird that's higher than D7 and mine again was very high. In her current vocal state she needs to employ Mariah's tactics! No of course you dont need a 5 octave voice in order to make good music. Amy winehouse, Corinne Bailey rae, Erykah Badu, jill scott (has operatic range but rarely uses it) Marsha ambriosius are great examples of this. But mimi still rocks.

You mean making the news and headlines through horrible soft- porn music videos? Nah, Whitney doesn't need airplay, butterfly, bathing suit, shampoo, conditioner and macro-mini skirt to boost sales.

Have you not heard it

like I never left with Akon

I feel sick I really do.
I had such hopes for Whitney!
I still do - but someone needs to stand in now and section her ass - cos she's definately still doing drugs.
I've heard from different drug addicts on the web who were also on crack and a couple were singers and they say it takes at least 6months clean free before their voices returned 75% at least
but Whitney's is getting deeper and her vocal range isnow helped by autotune and its getting smaller.
Someone really needs to step inm and SECTION her ass
before there's nothing left to salvage and Whitney becomed nothing more than an angel voiced memory.
(It'll make one hell of a movie - Didn't she almost have it all)
I'm starting to think she should have changed her name to Whitney Brown when she got married cos Whitney Houston's gone and so is The voice R.I.P.

I heard the new song and I also understand that its a leak. Could it be that its just an advertisement that is not meant to be an over the top display but rather an indication that her voice is still there and a plea to her fans. This is great marketing to say the least. B4you. I think you have it in for Whitney. You should find better ways of spending your time. And Im still trying to figure out how those who dont know her happen to know her drug of choice. Why crack? I have my notions as to why but ENTERTAIN ME for a moment. I've listened carefully and I hear a voice that is beautiful and sounds just as good as the mid 90s. I've also heard some of her live performances. She's definitely recovering. Lets wait until we hear the complete package first in the cd.

Agree, it is still early to judge Whitney comeback based on Like I Never Left. Anyway, IMO the song sounds much better than Mariah's Migrate!
