A ticked-off Billy Bob Thornton gives a very bad radio interview

Taking a page from Joaquin Phoenix , Billy Bob Thornton gave the actor-turned-rapper a run for his money when it comes to being one of the worst guests ever.

Billy Bob is just another pathetic example of a high maintenance Hollywood mentality who forgets that his fame and fortunte is largely a result of a small amount of talent and a huge amount of sheer dumb luck. Kiss his majesty's ring, don't talk about this or that, oh and make sure you get only primo bottled water for his highness! The whole lot makes me sick. I miss the classy celebs from the old days who were professional and projected dignity in public. These modern day primadonnas couldn't manage a trailer park in real life.

It wouldn't have been the host that posted the content, but rather the national broadcaster. He's just an employee and wouldn't have the say to do this. And if you listen to the interview, he clearly didn't intend to provoke Thornton at all but rather steered clear of all things Hollywood during the interview very purposefully. He was trying to talk music and I believe, after listening to this guy interview dozens of musicians, that he was attempting to do this with integrity. The producers or the hosts obviously understood the directive not to talk about acting, etc. as "interview topics to steer clear of" which he did. Maybe Thornton's people didn't make themselves clear?

This is a highly respected interviewer. It's not some cheap local FM radio show, it gets broadcasted nationally and features fantastic content. Frankly, I don't think Jian was trying to provoke Thornton. Even if he was instructed not to mention acting, why should he "obey"? This is progressive national media, nobody should be instructing anybody what should and shouldn't be said. If Billy Bob's people didn't want to risk something like this happening, they should have opted not to participate in the first place.

I mean, is it required that he eat Spam sandwhiches on Wonderbread with mayo and marry his first cousin, with their step-father {once removed} preacher performing the ceremony while driving his pick-up truck to a NASCAR race - stop'n to pick-up some 'shine' enroute, and his bride being only 12 when they were hitched, etc, etc.

In advance of the interview, Billie Bob Thorton received an agreement from interviewer Ghomeshi, and the show's producers, that the topic was to focus on Thornton's music, and that certain questions would not be asked. As soon as the interview started, Ghomeshi went completely against the agreement and asked questions he had no right to delve into. Of course, Thorton was livid, but carried on with the interview. Why would he (or anyone in his shoes) then give good answers to Ghomeshi, who is obviously an underhanded, deceitful, lying weasle of an interviewer? It's Ghomeshi who owes his interviewee an apology.

The interviewer never even asked a question about his acting career. He was told not to ask questions about acting and he didn't until Faggy Bob got to the point of a spoiled little bitch, which took no instigation by the way. Of course he mentioned that Billy Bob Thorton has an acting career, they wouldn't be on the damn show if he didn't. This guy's a douche, I'm not a fan of the music anyway but I hope those poor guys in the band know ol Billy just killed a national fan base with those Canadian comments. Come out east Billy, we'll shave that landing strip right off that beat up catcher's mitt face, give ya a real reason to bitch.

Based on the youtube video, it appears Mr. Thorton is suffering from one or several of the following:
Major depression w/psychotic features
Dissociative Disorder not otherwise specified
Personality Disorder (narcissistic, histrionic traits)
Substance-induced mood disorder
Or perhaps none of the above, and the man is simply a schmendrick.

Anyone who things the interviewer provoked BBT's response is delusional. No interviewer wants to go through something like that. All he did was set some basic context. His questions were all about music. As someone else said, if not for BBT's extant fame, this interview would not have ever happened and his band no doubt would have gone where most bands go - nowhere. In the entertainment world, you live and die with positive public exposure, and he should be grateful that he gets a huge boost up because of past fame, and not make a complete jerk of himself. Very selfish with regard to his bandmates, and clearly in his mind the band is all about him, again an inescapable artifact of his previous fame. I thought the interviewer did a great job of holding it together throughout and is worthy of great praise. BBT is a complete and worthless jerk. Oh, and the comment about how he is a great music historian just cements his pathetic narcissism.

Unless BBT pulls some sort of miracle apology out of his a$$ I feel that he has caused irreputable damage to the band.

I think it's safe to assume that the Boxmasters including BBT dragged them selves out of bed @6am to appear on CBC to promote the band. BBT accomplished the complete opposite.

All things considered Gion Gomeshi gave a great interview and I hope the rest of the band members appreciated him for salvaging what was ultimately becoming a train wreck!!
