The governor has done pretty well so far and has walked right down the middle of the road, but if she lets businesses get away without replenishing the fund they are responsible for maintaining in a timely, prudent manner, she will be viewed as being too cozy with them...and her critics will win this one.

The liberal movement and their belief in tax and spend are bringing this country to its knees. Their doctrine of doing everything possible to ruin our existance as a capitalist country and drive us into a socialist nanny state will destroy this nation as it has done to other countries over the past decades. There is no doubt that Repub administrations also share in some blame, but the libs have created a slide into total chaos and financial disaster with their sinister socialist ideology.

I hope and pray the newly elected Governors and their faces of reality will be able to set new courses for this great nation. Thanks to Gov Susanna, NM may be able to get us out of our problems. Use the veto and let these inept and selfish jerks know their methods are ruinous!

I agree that businesses should pay into the fund, however, we should not raise their taxes when it is the politicians that have allowed people to stay on unemployment for over 2 years straight. Even worse is that you do not have to prove taht you have looked for a job, all you do is call a phone number enter some answers using your keypad, it will ask if you have applied for jobs, you enter yes, and the system accepts that as true. No proof, just your word. Unemployment is meant for temporary assistance, not as a source of permanent income!

Superb point you make. That should undoubtedly never, ever be allowed to happen again. It's no secret to anyone there are slugs aplenty who'd rather bang a tin cup on their kitchen table than work for a living.

Curious.

How does raising withholding taxes on ("just teachers") is a new tax. Are you stating that just teachers are being held to new taxes? Are you talking about income tax?

Raising the withholding on your pay check is not new taxes. At the end of the year, you only pay the required amount. Withholding is a method of payment as you go.
