Obama's "back of the bus" remark

Obama’s latest quip is “It’s ok if the Republicans want to come along but they’ll have to get in the “back of the bus””. That’s not the kind of talk that should come from the President of the United States in my opinion. We need someone that has a genuine interest in working with both political parties to govern the country in a responsible manner. A remark like this certainly won’t encourage cooperation and it has an unpleasant racial sound when we reflect back on Rosa Parks and her refusal to ride there. How would that have sounded coming from other presidents? Obama could do much to help heal racial divide but instead does this. We need him out in 2012 and elect someone with a genuine interest in serving the people of this country responsibly.

He said back of the car. He was talking about the car being a metaphor for control of Congress. Not sure where you got bus from... maybe FOX?

Right, because that is something that the Republicans have a such a tremendous interest in collaboration.

This is never the case, be they in control of the steering wheel or when relegated to the back seat.

See, that metaphor wasn't too difficult to interpret, was it?

Rightie ALWAYS lie and misrepresent things. That's how they win elections. Anybody who bothers actually listening to Obama's statement can see that that is NOT what he was saying.

But the partisan whores at FauxNews don't care about accuacy. It's all about SPIN.

A pretty good illustration of the mendacity of the Republican party.

Here's the exact quote:

"we can't have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."

Now, one could argue that by making a comment like this, Obama is not interested in working with the Republicans in a bi-partisan fashion.

However, he said nothing about "back of the bus", and in fact used the phrase "sitting shotgun", which obviously implies a car, not a bus. To interpret this as racist is just more partisan political garbage, which is done by the far right (and the far left).

You obviously didn't hear the speech. He didn't say "back of the bus". You know who said "back of the bus"? RNC Chair Michael Steele when refering to Pelosi at the RNC. Both are on film and it appears you've seen neither.

He made reference to a car sitting in a ditch and the Dems sitting in the back. He never said "sit in the back" never "sit in the back of..." for which the later is an easy racial reference. As The Daily Show said, at the worst, the Dems weren't Rosa Parks, they were Driving Miss Daisy

FOX News is the only place to get the REAL news. Those nitwits at MSNBC especially, Olberman, and MadCow wouldn't know the truth if it slapped them in their ugly faces.

So I take it you will refuse to vote Republican this November? After all, the Republicans in Congress (including Paul Ryan R. VP hopeful) took an oath to ensure Obama was a 1-term president president, no matter what the cost (including if it meant the American people would suffer, which they have). So... no Romney/Ryan (Robme/Lyin') votes for you then, huh? Guess you'll have to vote Obama. Or your a hypocrit... one of the two....

"he said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said,'we can't have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.'"

Where's the bus? This is something Fox COMMENTATORS added to MAKE it a racist remark. They are worse than they accuse Obama of. And if someone had crashed a car (like the Republicans did for 8 years under Bush and two more while they held Congress), then why WOULD you want them to drive???
