I am glad to hear that Mr.Cosby will be addressing the issue on autism for our children.I thank you personally. I understand the need for the world to understand that autism is on the rise.I would like to know why when a star or someone with money speak everyone listen. We have been trying to get people for years to listen to us,but now that autism, has touched some famous people homes,We now understand the need for help.We are very hurt to think that no one what to hear from us because We do not have money. We are aware that autism do not come to only the poor, but,We do know having money get's you more resources but it can not stop autism. We want the world to understand We want to be heard too, this is about our children and We know,We did not cause autism. We want answers to question We will kept asking,Who are they helping when they get all of this funding. We refuse to be part of the problem, when the problem affect our children. We are tire of people seeing the positive side of autism hear from some that are struggling to love a child that push them away,or show some that work everyday while advocating at the same time for help for our children. We want to be heard, the one's that have been left behind after they were counted for resources for everything but us.

Thank you Mr. Bill Cosby for personally addressing the importance of more public awareness regarding autism. The upcoming benefit concert with Bill Cosby and Toni Braxton next month is one of many events being held this year to give more attention and much-needed funds forfurther research on this national condition that is affecting too many of our preciouis children. There may be a glimmer of hope in the horizon through living in a Wellness Home. Please visit www.nikken.com/wellnesshomenow to learn more vital info. There are many very pleased parents and guardians globally with testimonials of children with autism and similar disorders whose children have received amazing health and behavioral benefits simply by living in a healthy Wellness Home. This may aid in helping these children to better enjoy their lives, and also aids in maintaining good health and well-being for the entire family, as well.

I watched the show the other night that Mr. Cosby was on and I would like to ask if there is ANY Doctor that out there can help me. I have a 4 1/2 year old g-daughter that has a lot of the symptoms of autism and between her mother and I "we" can't get anyone that specializes in this to see her or to give us a diagnosis. It seems like you either have to have excellent insurance or be wealthy for a doctor to see a child here in this rotten town. This child is going to be 5 in October and wants to go to school but can't because of potty training problems amongst other problems. Her Mom has medicaide on this child but I guess because it is insurance through the state they don't want to be bothered with a child that has behavioral problems. It's not just that but there are other things going on too. We just want to get some help for her or at least we want to know what is wrong. Her Dad works hard and his taxes pay for her insurance and I think she has the right to see a doctor without having to pay a fortune. One doctor said she could see her with a $100 application then $275 for the visit. Guess she really wants blood! We just want answers!!

hi...i am still a student in Special Education here in Cebu City, philippine but i really understand you problem. under the NCLB law signed by Prisident W. Bush, your child can have a free education program. I don't know where exactly to go with but i'm sure, public schools can address your problem or any social groups who's advocacies are related to child with disabilities.

Those interested in the subject of autism should go to the following website:

www.autism.org

It's excellent that Mr. Cosby has an interest in this subject. There are many adult autistics who know how to write and speak who should contribute to this public interest. We must hear from their point of view and the autistic's point of view and not just spokespeople who are not autistics, even though certainly we need these interested parents, teachers, and public figures and their concern with correcting these problems.

However, autistics are not just "problems" but many have gifts, talents, and abilities that must also be recognized, while we help them correct their problems.

Also children should speak to adults who are also autistic who know what their world is like personally, and these adults who speak and children who can speak should appear with Mr. Cosby and/or others.

Mr. Cosby,
I was very appreciative of your take on autism. I have a nine year old with mild autism. One of the biggest problems that I have encountered is that in our school systems, it is amazing to me at how many of our nation's teachers do not really know about autism. I have found that most teachers are not autism trained nor do they have any inservices on autism. With the statistics on autism as high as they are, I believe that there should be mandatory inservices for all teachers regarding autism. I believe that the no child left behind act needs to be revamped to incorporate this. HOw can you possibly say that our children will not get left behind if our nation's teachers have no working knowledge of this terrible and tragic disorder?

Hi Mr Cosby, i know a mum who has a 7yr old girl with autism. She is desperately seeking help for her child, but none of the doctors or specialists have given her any information. The consultation fees are very costly and she's spent a fortune trying to help her daughter. The child cannot chew food yet and is fed foods like biscuits with water or spaghetti. The mum is a brilliant caring person, but she needs some of your expert advice

Mr. Cosby I have reason to thank you for so many good things in my life. I have been happily married fo 28 years this month and have always given you credit for getting my husband and I together again after a short break up While dating. ( We had a laugh filled reconcillatory date at one of the casinos in Atlantic City back in 1978) We have been blessed 3 healthy , happy children. I think your work with Autism is wonderful and if a product I am working on gets picked up, I will donate part of its proceed to research on Autism. I have delt with an Asberger child at the Dental office were I work and my old neighbor had a severely autistic child. It is scarey and difficult to say the least for parents and soon to be parents. Thank you for being such an involved and caring person.

In the past, I have been a teacher, SPED teacher, autism consultant for a large district in California, principal. Presently, I am completing my PhD in Hawaii--a few months to go. Just some facts: Many pediatricians do not know how to diagnose or treat autism. Public schools must provide FAPE (Free, appropriate, public education) to children with special needs. I often go to court for Hawaii Disability Rights Association to gain FAPE for these children as well as make sure that the schools are providing a semblance of services in worst case scenarios. It is not easy to find services when a child has not been diagnosed. Schools often do not want to label a child as having autism because it means a huge investment in money and time to educate each child with ASD appropriately. I am trying to start a foundation, school and treatment center here in Hawaii for children with ASD and other debilitating emotional constraints because there are few places and people that really want to help without enormous fees and related costs. Hope this information helps.
