Excellent idea. Keep killers (aka smokers) off of airplanes. Besides killing people with their smoke, they have in the past caused problems on airplanes.

The only good smoker is a dead smoker (too bad they kill others on their way to the grave).

I would be willing to give odds that this fatty would be first in line, demanding decent hard working travelers who smoke tobacco be booted off the plane. What goes around eventually comes around.

sucks that people are are so damm prejudice about weight
I now like to take my wife out and make sure that all the non mature wemon nare geolous of her getting the attention
I like that the idiots that nthink because they are skinny and attracted to me find it annoying that I only have eyes for my wife

I' on a 7:00am flight to NY Tuesday. I am NOT sharing space with a fat person. I'd rather deal with a smoker!

Either I get upgraded or fat tee has to go.

Who needs seats? Ryan Air and some Asian carriers are looking at a backboard thing that would allow passeners to fly standing-room-only. It's doable for a one-hour flight.

Hells Bells! Why don't they make a few seats bigger for large people. Would you call the front line of any football team FAT? There are certain locations on the flight where a few seats could be wider. They make the seats like socks - one size is suppose to fit all and they don't. Also look behind you on your next trip and see if the tall person has any leg room before you recline.
It's not about sensitivity but reality. Some folks are bigger and taller than others and not necessarily fat. So grow up and realize that the airline seat size is the problem, not the people.
There are wider seats, it's called First Class.

Oh, Mr. Smith, I'm so sorry this has happened to you, let me kiss your feet. Ooo, I AM sorry, I'm standing too close. Let me step back a few feet. Okay, now I see them!

Is there a weight limit overall for each size airplane?

Size has nothing to do with whether you're fat enough to "squish your neighbor" or not.

The simple fact is that an airplane flies. In order to fly, it has a weight limit to adhere to in order to safely take off and remain airborn.

If a plane with 100 seats is rated for 17,000 pounds passenger weight, and it's full, with everyone weighing 200 pounds on board, that plane isn't taking off, because it's overloaded and can't safely fly.

Weight is not a factor for the larger aircraft which were designed to carry passengers and/or freight, only the puddle jumpers. There is lots of unused space called "air" in a passenger cabin. It is all about balancing the load based on the weight throughout the cabin and cargo space.

He had his choice of any airline on which to fly. I'm sure he could have found a first class seat among them.

Goody! Goody! If National Association of Fat Acceptance boycotts Southwest, maybe regular folks won't get squeezed to death between XLs.

It is a publicity stunt! The guy should fly first class on American or United Airlines and quit whining.

It all starts with the free lunch programs in public school. Cut out the food obesity will be abolished.

They get on the drug at an early age and don't get off until they are buried in a grand piano case.
