Thanks to The Hartford Courant for reviewing this important concert. I was at this performance, too, and can affirm that the reviewer captured the magic and mystery of this performance, especially the role of the Chorale as part of the orchestral sonic tapestry, and the utterly rapt attention of the audience. It would be great if The Courant could run occasional preview articles about classical performances, especially for major works like the Missa Solemnis. This was a stunning performance of a significant musical work which is performed only rarely, and it was worthy of more coverage in The Courant.
