Too bad Barenboim's last concert with the CSO was one of his sloppiest conducting excursions yet. The Chorus does not have the opportunity to work with him often enough to interpret his "standing and watching to see what happens" moments on the podium (especially since he cut short what little rehearsal time we had by an hour and fifteen minutes) and the flailing he resorts to regularly, and we all don't have a clear view of the concertmaster to look to him for an entrance or even a beat when all else fails. We are no longer given adequate competent and productive rehearsal time to have the chance to sing together as a team, and sing as well as we are capable, and our preparer seems reluctant to do his job. Saturday night was not one of our finest moments.
