Barry White

Grammys to remind us of music with more soul

When Gabrielle Tunnage gets home from her job, she will put on "music that makes me feel good." Chances are it will be an old school slow jam by Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass, Peabo Bryson or Wil Downing.

I love the old soul, timeless, slowly swaying, touch your soul music Lou Rawls, Barry White, Smokey Robinson,- what I can't stand is the new soul with way too much "dream girls" screeching and wailing - makes my ears bleed. Enough of Fantasia, and all those dream girls screaching sounds. All those "woo woo" and "yea, yea" sounds are way too much - if you can't remember the songs - pick something else to sing - or cut out some of the woo woos and yea yea's - cut it out! It's like watching the auditions on American Idol. ENOUGH!!

ok let us not forget the 2006 American Idol winner TAYLOR HICKS...the young man with wisdom in his hair, and a heartv full of soul in his voice. Taylor is the perfect meld of southern rock-blues-funk-and soul. He will be here in town at Coral Springs Center for the Arts on 2/23. His new single and CD are out...and he is helping educate the young what great music is all about. GO SOUL PATROL!!! woooo hoooo

I CAN RELATE TO EVERYTHING BEING SAID. I'M FROM THAT CROSSOVER GENERATION... WHERE MOTOWN MET DISCO,RAP ETC.
I AGREE THERE ARE NO POETS TODAY LIKE THEN. ALTHOUGH, WE MUST REMEMBER THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY GOING A TIME WHERE PEOPLE ARE LOST. WHERE MUSIC GUIDED YOU THEN. WE ARE NOT GUIDED NOW.
