One of the most distressing facts about America today is that we are undergoing a deliberate deflation of our traditional ideals and values, both in the culture in general and in our laws in particular. We are enduring what Gertrude Himmelfarb called the demoralization of society,5 or what George Will described as the slow-motion barbarization of America,6 in the wake of which politics and life have become impoverished, coarsened, and tawdry. This disaster we deliberately and foolishly inflict on ourselves by insisting, in the face of history and of clear thinking, that we ought not to legislate morality. It is reckless to think that governing and government have no effect on the character of the nation and the persons who constitute it.

How come when it comes to morality conservatives and Republicans are oh-so-eager to force their version of it down everyone's throat using that tool which they claim they hate so much: big gubbermit?

And Christian morality too boot, based on some invisible super powerful guy who lives in the sky. Gimme a break. What next? This invisible super powerful guy's son's wife makes her appearance on toast? Or as a mildew stain?

God is LOVE!

1 Corinthians 13

1 Corinthians 13
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Greatest Gift

13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Homeland Security Delays Plan to Place Sensors on U.S.-Mexico Border

By Robert Beckhusen

The U.S. government’s plan to spend millions on advanced new ground sensors at the Mexican border has been delayed, Danger Room has learned, as the sensors have bandwidth and frequency problems the feds haven’t resolved. The delay isn’t the first — and it comes as thousands of aging sensors dotting the border trigger false alarms that have proved deadly to Border Patrol agents.

The Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) originally planned to blanket the border with a new generation of “unattended ground sensors,” or UGS’s. It was supposed to be a big help for Border Patrol agents, intended to “track, identify, and classify illegal incursions” across the border, according to a solicitation sent to businesses by CBP in April 2011. But last week, an update to the solicitation made it seem like it was canceled, stating abruptly that there are no plans to “release a solicitation for this specific requirement in the near future.”

New York Times Passes Along 'Endorsement' for Accused Cop-Killer Dorner

By Clay Waters | February 11, 2013 | 13:44

The New York Times managed to find mitigating circumstances for ex-cop and accused killer Christopher Dorner, subject of a manhunt in California, in its weekend coverage. On Saturday, L.A.-based Adam Nagourney reported "For Some, Shooting Suspect's Charges of Police Racism Resonate – They Say Accusations Raise Memories Of Past Abuses, Despite Much Progress."

The Times, which had nothing to say in its previous reports about Dorner's praise for liberal media personalities contained in his chatty Facebook "manifesto," certainly showed respect to his (perhaps falsified) beefs about racism in the LAPD. Can one imagine the conspiratorial rants of elderly American Nazi James von Brunn, who killed a security guard at the Holocaust Museum in D.C., given similar respect in the Times?

I appreciate your position of finding and showing us the good that this man did for you in the very bad situation that you actually have to live with.
I really can't imagine what it is like to live in the position the people of LA have to with the corrupt force. To be victimized by and or afraid of those that are charged with protecting you is the epitome of injustice.
However; at the moment it strongly appears that he has become a multiple murder and continues to be extremely dangerous. He must be caught and brought to justice. If convicted all of the things you have brought forth and much more can be heard and considered at his sentencing just as it rightly should be. Who knows, maybe more will come out at the trail to right some of the wrongs of the past.
But let there be no mistake, giving aide and/or comfort to him now or even hoping he escapes is definitely nothing short of criminal thinking.
Dorner is a hero... let him take out these pigs.

"Conservatives" by definition don't force anything on anybody. They are the people who stand on the status quo and don't want to change anything. Progressive Liberals by definition want to force change on people.
Comprehende?
Yea right... that's why Conservatives try to force women into having babies when they don't want to or force their religion on others.
