Our Federal government won't step up and protect border towns or even admit that there is a problem with the crime coming over from Mexico, until a huge tragedy occurs. Then all the fake politicians will act as though they care.

I agree someone is getting paid off somewhere. It would be a great news story or investigative piece for a reporter.

The FBI is under Nobama's control. Whatever he says, is what the FBI must report/do. I find this situation disgusting at best.

Terrorists can not survive without sanctuaries. Texas and all the other border states have become the sanctuaries.

Much like Al Queda-Taliban do their terrorism in Afghan. and then retreat to Palistan to rest, resupply and plan.

SWAT teams dispatched as gun battle unfolds near Escobares
November 09, 2011 5:58 AM

ESCOBARES — Gunmen crossed the Rio Grande into the United States near a shootout between where the Mexican military and a group of gunmen was taking place.
Several area SWAT teams responded about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to a ranch near Escobares, just across the U.S.-Mexico border, where a shootout broke out south of the Rio Grande.
The shootout reportedly began shortly after noon but details were not immediately available. Residents on the U.S. side reported seeing members of the U.S. Border Patrol and Starr County Sheriff’s Office securing the area near the border.
Border Patrol spokeswoman Rosalinda Huey said agents had been tracking a suspected drug load near La Rosita and pushed it back to Mexico.
Border Patrol alerted Mexican authorities of the suspected load and then found an injured Mexican national on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande, Huey said. Emergency crews rushed the man to an area hospital. His condition remains unknown.
The man, a suspected cartel gunman, had been shot by Mexican authorities, a separate U.S. law enforcement official said.
The official confirmed a group of as many as 15 gunmen had crossed the Rio Grande, though it remained unclear whether they were Mexican soldiers or cartel gunmen.
“We don’t know who they are,” the official said.“We haven’t gotten that information yet.”
Local authorities in Hidalgo County provided backup support along the Rio Grande as Border Patrol dispatched additional agents from the McAllen area to the incident in rural Starr County.

ANYONE CAN TAKE STATISTICS AND LIE WITH THEM. Take a class in statistical analysis and they will tell you you can slant any thing the way you want it to make it appear to be true.? The FBI does it all the time.

The police and sheriff's department take their reports and file the nature of the report with the FBI data bases. However before the reports get approved the police and sheriff's department alter them to make it appear to be less. A burglary of residence or business or vehicle can be changed by the supervisor to lower the stats if the home-business owner is unsure if any thing was taken. The report gets changed to criminal mischief, which is not a reportable crime to the FBI.

"The pace of company audits has roughly quadrupled since President George W. Bush's final year in office."

"Deportation of illegal immigrants increases under Obama administration"

By Peter Slevin
Washington Post Staff Writer

"In a bid to remake the enforcement of federal immigration laws, the Obama administration is deporting record numbers of illegal immigrants and auditing hundreds of businesses that blithely hire undocumented workers.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency expects to deport about 400,000 people this fiscal year, nearly 10 percent above the Bush administration's 2008 total and 25 percent more than were deported in 2007.

The pace of company audits has roughly quadrupled since President George W. Bush's final year in office."

"When Texas tea party legislators tried during this summer’s special session to require so-called sanctuary cities—such as Houston—to enforce federal immigration law, Texas’s most powerful REPUBLICAN DONORS squashed the bill. P. 111

Why would they do that? As usual, because of the money involved.

"Of the $207 billion worth of goods Texas exported in 2010, more than a third were sold to Mexico, which adds up to an amount three times greater than our fellow border states ( California, Arizona and New Mexico) combined. P. 111

"While the rest of the country has been busy railing against undocumented immigrants, and a border fence has become an article of faith in the GOP, Texashas reaped unprecedented kproifits from the traffic going both ways across its wide-open border." P. 111

"A 2006 study by the (Texas) state comptroller’s office concluded that our border with Mexico wasn’t a thousand-mile security breach, but rather an asset on the same scale as the oil buried beneath us…our 1.4 million undocumented immigrants boosted our state economy by almost $18 million annually." P. 111

"The Perryman Group, a Waco economic analysis firm, calculated that Texas’s undocumented workers produce approximately $80 billion in output." p. 111

Personally, I am totally opposed to forgiveness for people who enter this country illegally. I also feel very strongly that babies born to people in the U.S. illegally should NOT be U.S. citizens.

However, I do pay attention when Texas's most prominent economists, who have reason to know more about our economy than I do or than out-of-state people know, give us information like that in this month's TEXAS MONTHLY, Texas's top magazine.

The fact that many border cities have lower crime rates may well result (just my guess) from the increased presence of law enforcement and border patrol agents (more fire power than inland cities can afford). But, whatever the cause, the fact remains.

"...the facts, as reported by the FBI, appear to indicate Perry is wrong.

" El Paso, where Obama spoke, had the 275th highest crime rate out of 350 cities listed."

(Amarillo, in the Texas Panhandle, has a MUCH higher crime rate than El Paso, much to my surprise when I looked it up.)

"Corpus Christi, not far from the border, is No. 142, and the direct border town Laredo ranks No. 144.

"All had far lower crime rates than big Texas cities like Austin, Houston and San Antonio.

"So maybe it’s Perry who has poor intelligence.

"For even as their crime rates dropped, border towns in his state, such as Laredo and Brownsville, saw population growth topping 25 percent over the last 10 years — mostly Mexican immigrants. El Paso grew about 15 percent, but its crime rate also dropped."
