It would be another blunder if the GOP signed on to such an effort; many would see it as just another anti-hispanic policy.

it is a archaic part of an amendment and needs to be repealed. again, most developed nations do not go by jus soli. no reason to, in fact it is counterproductive to any rational immigration policy.
Of course the policy itself wouldn't necessarily be anti-hispanic, but it would be SEEN by many as yet another GOP anti-hispanic policy because the overwehlming majority of those affected would be hispanics, and this only became an issue when the white majority realized the majority of births in this country are now non-whites. It plays right into the white racist fears of being bred out of majority control. Even whites who aren't outright bigots still react negatively to being in the minority.

That's a shame. Maybe we can send you some of ours.

On a related issue, our wolf population has finally been taken of the endangered list, and of course the first thing these knuckleheads want to do is start shooting them again.

you have Moosen down there?!? of course, moose are not native to this area. 300 or so years ago we had caribou here, not the coffee, and then humans s=changed the habitat and hte moose moved in. still, i will be sad to see them go. i used to see them just about everyday when i first moved up here for the winters, but now it is getting to be arare thing...

we did hte same with our wolves in MN. we had our first dog hunting season here this year. the dog hunters killed many of them.

If either party actually cared more about its constituents instead of the party, this country might be in a better place today.
