<quoted text>Correction here JQs: Last year, from the time their GP referred them to a specialist to the time their treatment was actually started, Canadians had to wait approximately 16.1 weeks-no trivial wait. That period has risen dramatically in just one year up to 18.2 weeks. The nationwide trend toward increased wait times is repeated through all 10 Canadian provinces.
Ontario leads the way with the lowest average wait times; the 2010 average is 14.0, up from 2009's 12.5 weeks. Prince Edward Island saw the most dramatic increase and has the longest wait times in 2010 at 44.4 weeks, up from 26.7 in 2009.
Orthopaedic surgery continues to lead the pack when it comes to waiting times, with patients waiting on average almost 37 weeks, some die waiting!!
Medical oncology and radiation oncology are the two specialties where Canadians wait the least amount of time, on average 4.9 and 5.5 weeks respectively, many die waiting. The report notes that there were rather large increases in wait times in five specialties,
Ophthalmology saw the largest increase in wait times with a 4.5 week increase to an almost 27 week wait period, Internal Medicine increased by 2.2 weeks to just over a 14 week wait, and all three Cardiovascular Surgery, General Surgery, and Orthopaedic Surgery, were all up by 1.9 weeks to a 10 week, 12 week wait and almost 37 week wait period, respectively.
"Unreasonable wait times in Canada": The most concerning conclusion made by the specialists surveyed was that Canadians are waiting almost 3 weeks longer than what a physician deems to be a "reasonable" time period between their appointment with a specialist and when they actually receive their elective procedure.
A note about Cuba:Travellers should note that Cuban authorities will not allow anyone with outstanding medical bills to leave the country.
Finally, and "trust me I know" medical care delayed is medical care denied in many cases. Father Time sits on Death Panels...

President Obama plans to speak at a U.S. military service academy on Wednesday, a forum he has used throughout his administration to chart an evolution in military strategy and the gradual process of withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The president is scheduled to speak at the graduation of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, days after he and the other leaders of the NATO alliance shook hands on a plan for withdrawal from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

Hmmmm, the magic number seems to be ....40%!!! In West Virginia's primary 40% of all Democrats voted for a convict in Prison in stead of O'Bummer Boy. Likewise 40% of the Dems. in Arkansas voted for a lawyer from another state, Tennessee, than O'Bummer and in Kentucky 40% of all Dems voted for "No One" rather than O'Bummer.
If O'Bummer Boy is not going to get 40% of the Democrat's in November, how many do you think he will get from the Independent voters? And you still expect O'Bummer to win the general election?!? Yea, r i g h t? And I have some tropical beach front property to sell you on Greenland!
It sure sucks to be a Democrat this year!

And why not? Military people will be very polite regardless how the feel personally. They have not boo him in public, but in their minds and hearts they call him an idiot.
A couple of years ago when Senator Hillary Clinton went to Afghanistan, and the Army was looking for her New York constituents to have diner with her, most politely declined!
Oh, I bet Obama would have enough military who would want to share diner with him but I would bet most of them would be tanner than he is!!! Even in the military, most blacks still support him. Maybe not the 90% of the civilians but maybe 60% of the military blacks. But would he want to sit down to diner with a bunch of black soldiers?

Here's my reply, Bin Ladin aka GB. Sorry, can't include your post, too many characters, says Topix :

That's a good post,well-researched. However, though it says much, it also overlooks much.

Yes, the average wait between GP rererral and actual appt with specialist is 16 weeks. What study does not say is that this includes elective consulation and eventual treatment and/or surgery. Serious or life-threatening referrals are much quicker. Not true that patients die waiting for othopedic surgery. How do you die from water on the knee? Or strained ligaments. Orthopedic surgery is mostly, I say mostly, as some is urgent, non-urgent even if painful.Oh, wife had knee surgery, 6-week wait, no big deal. You write : "Medical oncology and radiation oncology are the two specialties where Canadians wait the least amount of time, on average 4.9 and 5.5 weeks respectively, many die waiting.". Well, 5 weeks average seems reasonable to me. Remember, that is an average, morer serious cases may not take as long to be treated. And, I'm no doctor, but if you have cancer, and have not been treated after 5 weeks and die, may I suggest you were pretty much a goner anyhow. Still, it's regrettable.

Any wait time is unreasonable, I agree. Yet, we are a nation where all citizens have access to free health care. There will be longer waiting times, yes. That's the downside. Upside is no matter how long you wait, you get treated and, to my experience, family's and friends', treated pretty well. It's better to be looked after a tad later than not at all as per 50% of Americans who have no health care at all, don't you agree?. And the other 50% who are not always well-insured and who often have to wait while insurance company deliberates on whether it should fund such a lab test or such surgery or such long-term treatmenté And we have no deductibles. A good friend of mine and his wife in Newark are expecting. He has no insurance, too expensive. Birth's gonna cost him $30,000. Highway robbery. I'd love to see the detailed bill. What is more, he requested a quote for medical coverage once baby is born for the three of them.$1,500 a month WOW. And $80 deductible for every visit to a physician. Makes our system look better and better, what with all its flaws, and it sure has them. Yearly medical check-ups? We all get them. And they ensure we are in the top 5 of 34 OECD in life expectancy. US is 29th. Now why would that be, do you think? Isn't it better and eventually cheaper to "catch" and/or prevent an illness in the bud with yearly check-ups? Saves lives, suffering and individual and govt money. How can you have a yealry-check-up if you're not that rich and not insured?

Cuba? Well, yes, they insist that foreigners who have used their excellent medical services pay before they leave the island. What do you find unusual about that? Did Ùi mendtins the hundreds of thousans of Americans travelling to Canada, Cuba, Central and South America in search of good and cheap medical care? Why's that? I'll let you answer thuogh I already know why.

US medical coverage and services vs Canada's? Frankly, in a very objective manner, I chosse my imperfect system. Wife and I came back from Bermuda and NYC last week. I caught pneumonia, she caught bronchitis. We've seen a total of, ER included and our family GP, 5 doctors. Cost : ZERO. Drugs : Total, two of us $20 deductible. Oh, damn it, parking,$6.00. And instant access, no wait, all in 5 days. And no asking insurance company for authorisation, what doctor decides goes.

You called me a fu...ing racist. For naught, as i may be fuc ing this and that, but racist never. Now you come up with the above reply? You wrote very clearly that all American Jews were socialists. You wrote that socialists were Communists. I proved to you that BenGurion, Gold Meir and Simon Perez were both Jews AND die-hard socialits. I concluded then that according to your definition, they must be Communists, all of them. And you come up with atheists? Is that all you've got? How'd you come up with such lame language?

You are indeed a poor fella. A sorry loser. A drifter who picks up bits and pieces of hate information along the way, loves what he sees, and swallows it. Everyone here now sees what a liar, hypocrite and fabricator you are. Everyone sees how you awkwardly deflect proof, well, daily, of how off the beam you are, how prepostorous and puerile your thinking is, well, what there is of it.

I feel sorry for people like you, but not completely, as it is you and your ilk who weaken the fibrre of a vibrant nation such as yours, the reason why you have the Gingriches and Limbaughs and Clarence Campbells and WNDs of this world. For you seek and need mediocrity to lead you down the path. You wallow in mediocrity, feel safe with it surrounding you, do not feel challenged. Good luck with that, Rogue.

jurisdiction, n.(14c) 1. A government's general power to exercise authority over all persons and things within its territory; [Excerpted from Black's Law Dictionary.]

Apparently in Birfistan, aliens, are not considered to fall within the categories of "all persons and all things." Birfoons do believe there is a footnote in the Constitution written in invisible ink that states this exception.

First of all I do not condone violence of any kind. Nor do I condone taking the law into your own hands but this attack by a bunch of Libtard Do-Gooders is just plan wrong.
This is something the loon-toony-left does. They think that just because they are offended they have the right to attack people and destroy property. They are as much of a Hate-Group as the Groups they are against.
I noticed that on H.A.R.M.'s site, one to their support groups is the Southern Poverty Law Group which claims THEY are non-violent. Then why do they associate with people who do condone violence.
I wonder who will defend the them in court?
