Mother of Newtown shooting victim fights back tears as she pleads for ...

Apr 13, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: New York Post

The mother of a 6-year-old boy killed in the Connecticut school shooting used the opportunity to fill in for President Barack Obama during the weekly radio and Internet address to make a personal plea from the White House for action to combat gun violence.

I sympathize with the parents and families of the Newtown dead. I understand that they are in grave pain. But the fact remains that no amount of gun legislation, of any kind, has kept those who want a gun, for use against another human, or humans, from acquiring one. Laws do not save lives - people and preparedness do.

Every gun in that house was registered. All were legally purchased. Neither of which facts have any bearing on the fact that it was mental illness which compelled that young man to kill 21 children. If the weapons he had access to hadn't been available to him, he could just as easily have set canisters of bleach and ammonia inconspicuously around the school, and killed many more people with mustard gas than he did with the guns.

American citizens have the right to bear arms. The Constitution declares that right 'must not be infringed.' The Constitution was written very specifically to prevent the government from having weapons, while the citizens do not. There are hundreds of thousands of registered guns in this country, but there are literally MILLIONS which are not - and the lack or presence of said registration has never prevented a crime.

Our focus as a nation, shouldn't be on disarming citizens, or on penalties for exercising our Constitutional rights. It should be on identifying; when possible, preventing; and responsibly treating, mental illness.

My heartfelt sympathy to her, and to the families of the 643,000 American soldiers that have given their lives to protect our Constitutional rights and our freedom.

Which means more to Democrats? Shamelessly capitalizing on this tragedy to push anti second amendment bills that have been waiting in the wings for years, or upholding the Constitution?
Do the tears and pleas of the victims parents who don't want restrictive guns laws imposed on law abiding Americans due to this tragedy mean anything? Because some of them have been speaking out, as well...not that the MSM is reporting it.
Spare us all the partisan rhetoric. All the laws in the world and all the laws and regulations recently passed in Ct. wouldn't and won't prevent a similar tragedy. All it's going to do is raise our already sky high taxes even more to pay for dozens of new programs, give teachers the ability (but not nearly the training) to "identify" those children who they think might have mental issues and turn our schools into lock down prisons that a madman intent on getting in and causing harm will still be able to do.
It will create a long gun registry and give authorities the right to confiscate those guns on the say so of people who aren't trained to identify serious mental disorders that might lead to such a tragedy. Nor can the state trump federal privacy laws, doctor/patient confidentiality (Chu, Virginia Tech), and even many trained psychiatrists wouldn't have culled out Kelbold (Columbine) as the sociopath that he was...they act just like everyone else.
But our state capitalized on this tragedy and just voted themselves a great deal of power over it's citizens. And none of that power would have prevented or averted what happened in Newtown, so what good has been accomplished?
This is laughingly called the Constitution State, but that document doesn't mean anything anymore, exchanged for a false sense of security and broad smiles of the anti-second amendment crowd who have been trying to pass these laws for years.
Wake up. The freedoms and liberties you value will be next.

Your right, no liberal law today or proposed would have stopped Sandy Hook. She is shilling just like Sandra Fluke did. It's common among liberal to dance on their children's graves to promote the liberal agenda.

Too bad the liberal elite are so supportive of living in their fantasy land and sending their kids to school in "gun free zones" which should actually say "Everyone on this premesis is unarmed - We proudly support using our children as targets".
You won't see that sign where Obama's children go to school. They deserve protection.
Apparently others don't.
The sad fct is that the only way to stop violence is with violence. The difference between an attempted massacre and Sandy Hook is someone was armed to stop the aggressor before he got started.
The proposed legislation would not prevent any of the recent sprees, but that's not the intent, which is to enable registration and confisgation so that we will all be safe from those who cause no problems with firearms. Of course with the expansion of gun free zones, the stitting duck gallery gets bigger because for some reason criminals buying weapons illegally don't have to go through a background check...
Neither do the drug cartels thanks to Obama and company.

The Dems ignored our Ambassador and the other 3 Americans that got murdered in Benghazi, and they like to dance on the graves of Kids. They are really SICK and this shows they will do anything and stoop as low as they can to try to win their asinine gun control.

They could win if they would only address the ISSUE WHICH IS THE CRIME RATE - they are attacking guns and honest gun owners when they should be attacking the CRIME.

They love to hide their dirt. The white house has ordered bigger rugs to sweep it under.

Battle waged over proposed deletion of disgraced abortion doctor Kermit Gosnellís Wikipedia page. Black and liberal.....no wonder they are trying to hide it. MSM is doing their part. Typical.

This administration will go down in the history books as the most corrupt since the CivilWar, and that is saying something.
The NEA was charged with 'changing the history', but it could not out run the web. And, it is still trying.
Just as the imagery of American History after the CivilWar is pulled from library shelves, and the CARPETBAGGERS are confused with gun ownership for former slaves.
The reason 'Jonny Can't Read', is because Reasoning left the educational system.
