Fiscal cliff: Impasse on tax rates is big hurdle

Nov 8, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: ChannelOne

House Republicans' hard line against higher tax rates for upper-income earners leaves re-elected President Barack Obama with a tough, core decision: Does he pick a fight and risk falling off a "fiscal cliff" or does he rush to compromise and risk alienating liberal Democrats? Obama has been silent since his victory speech early Wednesday morning, ... (more)

there were more than 2 candidates on my ballot, not sure about where you live.
I chose a "third party" and voted my conscience.
.
the elected zealots I'm speaking of are people like Michelle Bachmann who condone the "pray away the gay" approach, and claim the bible says so.
Pfft, what bible is she talking about?
.
Yeah, Romney doesn't consider a fee to be a tax, ironic huh?
as far as I'm concerned any money paid to any government is a tax, whether it's to renew your license, or get a copy of your birth certificate.
.
the romneycare plan in Mass has a $2k fine for not being insured, the national plan is something like $700, he also required that small businesses offer insurance to ALL employees, P/T or F/T, which is similar to the national plan, but the employee count is different, and the national plan requires that businesses offer coverage to F/T workers, not P/T workers.
.
and Romney changed his mind about a lot of thing after being governor of massachusetts, like a woman's right to choose, and stem cell research just to name a couple.
throw in there his apparent eagerness to enter into (yet another) war with Iran.
that's why he didn't even bother campaigning in Massachusetts, he knew it would be a waste of money.
I'm in NJ. There were just two candidates. I knew too much about the one I didn't want.:-)

but apparently not enough about the one you voted for.
.
really, NJ only had Obama and Romney?
what about Gary Johnson-libertarian party, Jill Stein-green party, Virgil Goode-constitution party, and Rocky Anderson-justice party?
none of them were on your ballot?
.
what a shame, any one of them would have been a better choice than the democrat & the republican
it's pathetic to me that none of these candidates were allowed to debate Romney and Obama, and just proves how broken our system really is.

While still ridiculous, conservative freakouts like this made more sense after the 2008 election. By now we've had four years with Obama and the sky hasn't fallen, no one has pried my gun from my cold, dead hand and we haven't been overrun by terrorists. If Obama's election was going to destroy America, wouldn't it have done it by now?
It is a long term problem, Obama will not be here regardless. Just stick your head back in the sand until the interest rates start going back up and the us starts having trouble servicing the debt and maintaining benefits to the people it promised. It will be too late to fix it then. It is math not politics.

I find it odd how math matters to conservatives when a liberal is in the WH.

Oblamers own budget called for 1.3 trillion in spending and even Reid wouldn't bring it to the floor for a vote.
Having no budget belongs to Oblamer,100%.
You can't blame Bush for that no matter how hard you try.

The President does not create the budget, congress does. Any 7th grader can tell you that

Please name the last republican administration that didnt run a deficit: I am 44, and there hasnt been one in my lifetime

The President submits a budget proposal to Congress for approval.
Oblamer did this twice and received zero support from either party.
Another 1st for Oblamer, along with never operating with a budget.

Obama's last budget proposal was held out as a balanced approach to beginning to rein in deficits. It calld for tax increases and higher spending, and would begin to level off debt as a percentage of the economy by 2022. It would produce $6.4 trillion in new deficits over that time. It was rejected by the democratic controlled senate 99-0 and 414-0 in the house. He is obviously not going to fix the problem.

Agree.
He loses me the second he starts babbling about spending his way out of debt.
Kind of like a jobless recovery?

Kristol:'It Won't Kill the Country If We Raise Taxes on Millionaires'

Kristol told "Fox News Sunday" that the GOP shouldn't "fall on its sword to defend a bunch of millionaires. "The leadership in the Republican Party and the leadership in the conservative movement has to pull back, let people float new ideas," said Kristol. "It won't kill the country if we raise taxes a little bit on millionaires." Besides, he points outs, many of these millionaires are Democrat-voting, Hollywood-hills-living liberals anyway.

"MOST OF IT IS MONEY WE OWE OURSELF" say some .but guess whos gonna get paid first.? them or ourself?... dont be surprised that yourself , or the collective ourself, ends up getting the finger,to yourself,if anything

agreed.

the GOP made the mistake of playing to the religious zealots, and making women's "rights" an issue.
during this election cycle it seemed like at least once a week some random republican was saying some ridiculous thing about rape or abortion or Christianity.
that is no way to get votes.
my guess is that a lot of Romney supporters got into the voting booth and thought about their daughter or their sister, or their wife and changed their mind at the last minute.
being from massachusetts myself, there was no way I could vote for Romney, just on principle.
Romney is old news in all "57" states, at least 47 % of the time ,with or without Latinos and women voters.
