I am re-reading Nelson deMilles book" Plum Island" and I was jarred to read an AP story in the newspaper that the gov't was considering moving the progran to Tx, KS or GA. My response: they must be crazier than I thought. The midwest has had many tornados and this disasterous flooding. Both TX and GA are hurricane prone. It would not take an act of terror to release these deadly virusres into the air and water. What are they thinking? It seems that Plum lsland has worked well for many decades. I am sure that it would cost less to upgrade those facilities than to start new in some less secure place. It would be just like this administration to put the research center in the middle of grazing land in Tx or KS or near to hog farms in GA. It worries me.
