It is true!!! Godspeed Anthony~~another Angel gone to Heaven's rewards!

Anthony Burger dies while playing piano aboard Gaither Cruise

Anthony Burger has died while playing piano on the Gaither Cruise. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Please pray for Anthony’s family and the other artists, friends and fans still on the cruise dealing with his passing.

This is some of the saddest news I have ever had to report. Anthony was a prince of a Christian gentleman and one of Gospel Music’s greatest talents of all times. I recently had the privilege of presenting Anthony with The Southern Gospel Music Awards- Pianist of the Year Award.

We will update you as we get more information.

Although the presence, life and talent of Anthony Burger will be greatly missed at the Bill and Gloria Gaither concerts and on all the videos, etc., being a Christian myself, I understand that it was GOD's Timing for Anthony's time on this earth to be up so that he could go to his Real Home in Heaven. To the family and all the friends of Anthony Burger, May you feel God's peace and comfort around you at this time and in the days and years ahead... and be assured that you will be with Anthony again one day when the Trumpet Sounds and We All Shall Behold HIM! Actually, he wasn't playing "We Shall Behold Him." He was playing, "Hear My Song Lord." This information was found on Mark Lowry's website and was sent to him by Ben Speer who is/was on the ship where Anthony passed away. Such a loss!

The information about playing "Hear My Song Lord" is correct. The same information was posted on the message board of www.gaither.com on February 24, 2006.

I got the call at about 10:00 last Wed. evening of Anthony's homegoing. He will be missed.

Anthony and I worked together on one of my solo projects in 1997. He had only been away from the Kingsmen a short time and had just started his stint with Bill Gaither. He produced and directed what has remained to be one of the best projects I had the honor of being involved with. His arrangement of "If That Isn't Love" is still the best I have ever heard. He was truly the greatest musician I have ever worked with. He will be missed.

We had just heard Anthony in Orlando at the T.D. Waterhouse the last of January. What a blessing the concert was that night and he literally "burned" up the piano. We will miss him.

Anthony was such a humble man. We were blessed to have met him and his wonderful family a few months ago. He stopped by our home and was even riding a gas powered go-ped around like he had rode one forever. What a tremendous loss for so many. We are praying for his family and all those who knew him. He will be missed!!!

I was just browsing on the Internet and suddenly wanted to see anthony burger's website for some new photos and when
I opened it I was really shocked to see that he passed away .I couldn't sleep that night and I felt happy that his was a really glorious death because he died while glorifying Jesus.Jesus gives that chance only to a few people and Anthony was one among them.I pray that the Lord uses me like He used anthony.I deeply mourn because we all miss him.I love you LuAnn ,A.J ,Austin and Lori.Jesus might have give anthony a Golden piano and Jesus might be sitting in an Easy chair listening to the heavenly music of Anthony.

p.s:I too am a little pianist.most of the time i try to imitate anthony and was succesful in playing some songs like him.I thank God for that.

We enjoyed watching and listening to Anthony play his beautiful heavenly music. What a blessing!! God has called so many of the great singers home such as George Younce, Glen Payne, Hovie Lister, Howard & Vestal Goodman, Jack Hess, etc. HE must have decided that HE wanted the best pianist for this special group that HE has put together in Heaven. Our prayers are with the family.

We just had the priviledge of seeing Anthony in our church three weeks ago. He played a Sunday Morning service and Evening Concert for us. We were able to offer our vehicle for he and his wife to see Houston between services, but he told me later that they were just too tired, so they slept in their bus for the afternoon. What a loss for us, but what a gain for the Lord. We will never forget that last experieince with him. God just wanted him to come and play for Him in Heaven! Our prayers are with his family.

I was on the cruise ship and saw Anthony when he passed away. Just before his death he had played a solo piece called "Keep On the Firing Line" He stood after completion of the song and took a bow and smiled. At that time my thought was "His smile is as beautiful as his piano playing."

Anthony was truly "in tune with God" on this cruise. I had the privelage of attending a morning concert where he gave his testimony. It was the first time I heard it. I was impressed with his humble and gracious spirit.

God be with his family and friends. I know he will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you all.

My wife and I saw Anthony at the Gaither Homecoming concerts when they were in Ft. Worth, TX. My wife is a musician (singing, piano and organ). She had a stroke in 2003 and currently lives in a nursing home. She and I enjoy watching Anthony's performances on the Gaither Homecoming TV programs. We will miss his inspired playing.

This AM (3/9/06), I was listening to a Christian radio station in my car and was very saddend to hear that Anthony Burger had pased away. I had the priviledge to hear Anthony at two Gaither concerts and quickly became
a fan. The world has lost an incredibly gifted man. We will miss him very much. My Pastor often tells us when a dear saint goes home, that although he can't come to us now, we will one day go to him and will worship our Heavenly Father together. What a glorius "Homecoming" that
will be! May God's grace and peace keep his family at this time.
