English soccer star David Beckham and his Spice Girl wife, Victoria Adams, settled their lawsuit today against author Andrew Morton and his publishers over an upcoming biography of the couple.

English soccer star David Beckham and his Spice Girl wife, Victoria Adams, settled their lawsuit today against author Andrew Morton and his publishers over an upcoming biography of the couple.

At issue were 2,500 words of the final 60,000-word manuscript by Morton, who also wrote a best-selling biography of Princess Diana.

The lawyer said the settlement "in no way implies that Mr. and Mrs. Beckham endorse or in any way approve of the contents of this book," but that they accepted legal advice on "what the law permits to be published in respect to certain passages."

No further details were disclosed.

Details of the biography also have been kept secret because of the nature of the confidentiality suit.

Morton, publisher Michael O'Mara Books and former bodyguard Mark Niblett were co-defendants in the Beckhams' suit, which claimed Niblett broke a confidentiality agreement by providing details of the couple's private life.

Morton had argued material from Niblett was either not confidential or already in the public domain.
