Angela Bassett Scopes Out 'ER' - Oscar nominee signs for show's...

George Clooney may not be coming back for "ER's" final season, but the long-running series has nonetheless upped the star wattage.

I have no problem with a fine actress such as her joining the show but if you're going to have a character "return to County after several years abroad", why not bring back someone who was actually ON the show at one point? With all the former regular and recurring doctors they've had over fourteen years, there's gotta be someone.

What's William H. Macy's Dr. Morgenstern up to these days? I know, I know. That one's a long shot but there's gotta be someone.

Good choice, though I agree with Todd; I really want to see old favorites return! Still, new blood has been badly needed for years now. Many of the recently added characters and actors were not very good or were just plain poorly handled. I hope Bassett plays someone I can be interested in, even if I don't "like" the character.

Sounds like ER is really rising to the occasion for the last season. The show steadily gotten better since the 300th episode. I'm looking forward to the final season.
