I attended this wonderful production opening night. I must say, I am a bit perplexed - is Mr. Parks commenting on how very tired a Neil Simon production is? How one of America's finest writers of the 20th Century, with whom many who attended this production grew up enjoying his wit, is too "played" out for a theatre audience?
Perhaps there is a generation gap - the audience I saw was enthalled by the perfomances on Long Island of professional trained actors in a classic well known and beloved comedy.
Broadway perfomers, those who can be seen, at this very minute on the civil screen and the draw, an actress from one very popular soap opera brought their combined talent to Long Island at a new Equity house.
I missed Mr. Parks comments on the performers, but instead a critique of the play.
How sad that many will read this review and use it as the basis for which they decide to view artists at work.
For the record, the performaces were delightful. Talent abounds on this stage from the moment, the curtain opens until the final curtain call.
Don't miss an opportunity to see true professional actors at work, and then go see what else they have done.
It was an clean, enjoyable night out with true grownups.
