The Watcher: "How I Met Your Mother" hides pregnancies

This season, "How I Met Your Mother" could have been called "How We Tried To Hide Two Pregnancies." Last year, after production had begun on the fourth season of the CBS comedy, Alyson Hannigan , who plays Lily, announced she was pregnant.

Since Marshall and Lily are already respectably married and have discussed starting a family, is there a particular reason they *didn't* write Alyson's pregnancy into the storyline?

thank god. there were too many sitcoms with babies popping out all the time--friends with twins, scrubs, etc. etc. it's annoying when babies show up on sitcoms because after 1 or 2 appearances after the birth, they mysteriously disappear.
