Oct 2, 2012 Full story: Washington Examiner 11

It's not just the collection plate that's getting passed around this fall at hundreds of mainly African-American and Latino churches in presidential battleground states and across the nation.

And it is not just black churches involved in a "get out the vote" mantra. Catholic churches are encouraging their members to vote for Romney because of Obama's support for gays and his attacks on the Catholic Church. The article mentions that 95% of blacks voted for Obama in 08' and that it can be expected again in 2012. That 95% of blacks voted for Obama clearly demonstrates a racial prejudice. What would blacks be saying or doing if 95% of whites voted for Romney? They would be screaming RACIST WHITE PIGS to the heavens and rioting in the streets. Racism only cuts one way with blacks.

All churches should lose their tax exempt status and this kind of crap just proves it.

Blacks only do what Jesse and Al Sharpton tell them to do. Can't think for themselves. That's why they have bought into welfare slavery.

Why is Pat Robertson hanging with Rmoney? He doesn't even believe Mormons are Christian, and believes they are a Cult.

Romney can hang around with anybody he desires. Roberts is not using a tax exempt place of worship to promote his message. Big difference.

Tax Exemptions vs. Church Political Activity
Current Policies & Laws

By Austin Cline, About.com Guide

Although there are a great many benefits which accompany becoming a tax exempt charitable trust, there is one significant drawback which has caused quite a bit of debate and not a few difficulties: a prohibition on political activity, specifically participation in political campaigns on behalf or any particular candidate.

It is important to understand that this prohibition does not mean that religious organizations and their officers are cannot speak out on any political, social, or moral issues. This is a common misconception which some have capitalized on for political purposes, but it is absolutely incorrect.

By not taxing churches, the government is prevented from directly interfering with how those churches operate. By the same token, those churches are also prevented from directly interfering with how the government operates in that they cannot endorse any political candidates, they cannot campaign on behalf of any candidates, and they cannot attack any political candidate such that the effectively endorse that personís opponent.

No, but in what they are doing, they risk the tax exempt status. If it's worth it to them, then I say fine, go for it. Should it actually happen, then I don't want to hear Democrats cry that it's a witch hunt.

They are not ever going to lose their Taxexempt status, but I think some should. Especially Evangelicals, who make no secret that they support TeaBaggers and Repubs, right from the Altar and MORE Especially the nuts from Kansas that show up at Military Funerals and harass the families of the fallen. Foxboro Baptist? Is that it?

I agree. I don't like those nutballs either. Nobody in religion receiving tax-exempt status should be promoting a candidate or revolting against our government systems. You have a gripe, then speak outside of your church. You still have freedom of speech.
